Whats a good camera under 500?

So ya...I have a minolta dimage xt right now, and its an awesome small little camera, does everything I want it to, looks nice, very portable. BUT, I'm looking to get another nicer one for really good pictures. Maybe a more "prosumer" camera, what do you camera gurus recommend for something thats under 500bucks? Used prices are okay too, cause thats kinda a tighter budget. What about something thats over 500bucks but under 1000?

Canon A60.. I just got mine 2 days ago.. and I am loving it.. I took it with me out to the backcountry today... i really liked what i was seeing..

Great camera.. Futureshop sells for $329.. (then a mem card, and shit.. etc.)

Awesome, what about the A80? I heard thats pretty good too.

What about those Cannon EOSs? Probably the digital rebel. I think the next logical step up from my dimage xt would be to get one of those, how much would one of these go as used? anyone know?

They just came out... there won't be used ones for at least 6 months... and if there are, I bet they would go for over $1000.

Get and Canon S400 or wait for the S500. The Canon S50 is also a good one as it has many manual features.

my buddy bought a sony from visions and the lcd screen on it was toast and he got it for 500 bucks and sony said it was still under warrenty and there fixing it for free lol what a greta plan.

The Canon S400 is a great camera. it's pretty powerful for it's size. They are like ~$590 right now.
The A80 is a good camera too. Has more manual features than the S400. Going for ~$600.
The S50 is even better. Going for ~$750.

Cool...I wonder how these cameras will look compared to the one I right now, I think the pictures I take now are pretty decent for a camera this size...maybe I should go grab one from futureshop or something and snap a couple pics to see how they compared to see if and how I should upgrade.

s400 or A70 is in your price range I think. Both fantastic cameras.
