ATF in Hondas

Just wondering if anyone on here has successfully used anything other than Honda's own ATF fluid. The owner manuals say only use ATF-Z1 which has been superceded by ATF-DW. I have read people online swearing by Maxlife ATF, Castrol ATF, Redline, Amsoil but I don't want to try anything out especially with Honda's shitty track records with auto trannies.

as long as it meets the spec I would use it.

Some of the redlines meets the spec. That is what I would personally use

I've always used OEM Honda ATF and Power Steering fluid. Weird...but the car seems "sensitive" when using other brands of lubes...again weird.

I have however heard that the Valvoline VV324 Maxlife Dexron III ATF fluid is excellent.
