So I'm currently trying to get ahold of management and see if a camera was at the back. But in the meantime trying to piece together best I can and knowing beyond maybe someone can catch something.

Last night sometime between 5:35pm and 7:10pm my car was hit and run at earls willow.

So far I've created the two videos of me entering the parking lot and parking.

Here is the front view at 7:10 after I saw damage

Side view

Here is the damage itself, some yellow plastic/poly material is punctured right through the bumped, 3M wreck in the area and will probably require a new bumper. I have no clue what this orange/yellow piece could be

http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af25/Ifrit235/Hit%20and%20Run%20puzzle/hitandrunbumper_zpsb7bd6429.jpg (http://s990.photobucket.com/user/Ifrit235/media/Hit%20and%20Run%20puzzle/hitandrunbumper_zpsb7bd6429.jpg.html)

Here are the shards of red tail light I picked up

http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af25/Ifrit235/Hit%20and%20Run%20puzzle/hitandrunpieces_zps2f990071.jpg (http://s990.photobucket.com/user/Ifrit235/media/Hit%20and%20Run%20puzzle/hitandrunpieces_zps2f990071.jpg.html)

Of the shards, two pieces had some identification codes on them

This first piece says "05 DOT L"

http://i990.photobucket.com/albums/af25/Ifrit235/Hit%20and%20Run%20puzzle/4789554a-d173-46fd-bb20-21ecc88813e7_zps4b14f624.jpg (http://s990.photobucket.com/user/Ifrit235/media/Hit%20and%20Run%20puzzle/4789554a-d173-46fd-bb20-21ecc88813e7_zps4b14f624.jpg.html)

Second piece shows "OREA HMC IH" HMC is in a box outline and the IH is slanted/italicized?

I don't know if enough information is available to catch him, obviously hoping that i'll get lucky with the video cameras.

Its a realllll shame my video camera doesn't run while parking because that would make this much easier. Unfortunately the audi powers it down immediately after turning the car off :(

I think you should stop driving colin, you have no luck with cars

I would say it would be Korea HMC (Hyundai motor Corp) maybe?
That might narrow it down slightly.
Obviously has to be low from the impact so probably a reflector.

Google: OREA HMC IH

- Hyundai Motor Company | Worldwide Official Website

In the second video there is a Hyundai next to the black BMW.

Guess that's a clue, can't do nothing much with that since you don't have proof of the actual impact on tape. The plate is clearly visible so I guess you could try and go to the cops with that and try and see if they'll go investigate the car for damage....doubt it though.

Was your dash cam not on when the car was parked?

colinxx235
03-23-2014, 01:44 PM
Hmmm could be possible, although I wouldn't get why the hyundai would back up there.

What is really confusing me is the hard yellow plastic lodged in my bumped, I can't think where that would be from

they have an underground parking too if that helps at all

Unfortunately no, I mentioned in first post that the Audi powers it down immediately once I push on/off button. Which obviously sucks ass...
I have the blackvue 400 like a chunk of the others from spikers group buy

I figured I would go add the video when I left now, the black hyundai hasn't moved...

So I've been informed by the night leader that my car was not in view of the cameras at earls, I'm not sure if any other places near by would have had a view... because I doubt the complex to the south has cameras pointing towards earls parking lot... looks like i'm pretty fucked at this point :banghead:

Yellow piece is part of the light, eBay has tons of examples, all have yellow as part of the unit. Tough break considering your repair is a least a couple grand based on my last hit and run damage. Made me want to buy a truck with nice big aftermarket steel bumpers.

I can see a need for a 360 degree camera to be mounted on the roof of all vehicles. We need: dash cam / 360 park cam. Or buy a used Brinks van.

Could have sworn they had a camera by the back door there. If not I'd think the garbage area camera would catch a glimpse.

I'll follow up on this for you

Do a fuse tap to a circuit that is always on. My BMW has comfort access and I tapped into that circuit. Car will last almost two days on battery and recording and BMW is smart enough to kill all circuits if battery gets too low and will save enough power to start. I am sure Audi has something similar!

People are bastards, someone reversed into my moms white S4 and she is left paying for it.

Hope you can catch the bastard.

that would be appreciated, I'm going to try and see if someone would let me come in and watch the 1h30 minutes of film.

If by chance a 2005 hyundai accent is flying through parking lot, or goes that one way and then peaces out instantly... probably the only hope :(

You were able to confirm those pieces are from an Accent?

I was just thinking that Kia is partially owned by Hyundai. Would it be possible that the part could have been made for Kia by Hyundai? There was an Optima parked next to the Hyundai in the video of you driving in. In the video of you leaving, the Optima is gone.

:dunno:

Well unfortunately I don't know, just going on what some guys said in here.

Otherwise if anyone knows the owner of a black Kia Optimate with LP# LWS-006 or sees it around and sees damage, that would be appreciated.

In the meantime, I coincidentally have an appointment at Cosmos Collision for an audi corrosion warranty quote, was going to get them to give me a separate quote on the bumper while there before I talk to insurance. Was hoping I could find some information to make a report first but so far isn't looking good....

Seeing if anyone on beyond has positive or negative things to say about the quality by CC? otherwise I'd stick to my usual contemporary coachworks in douglas glen...

Thanks

Not likely unfortunately. The only computer where you can watch camera footage would be in the office where there's lots of personal information and cash sitting around. I know head office doesn't even like regular employees hanging out in there, let alone a customer. Not ruling it out but I wouldn't expect them to allow it.

I've lost the phone # of the night leader but I'll try and track him down on facebook for you. If I have no luck I'll just send an email to the account that goes to everyone at that location and hope he gets back to me.

Thanks timbit, but I've actually already been in touch with Jesse/Michelle so I don't need to double down on either.

Jesse told my friend that the rear didn't have a view, but I'm seeing if Michelle can check camera (or Jesse) to see if a 2005 accent rolls in and out of the side with a camera between that frame.

Doesn't look good, i'll be getting a cosmos quote ontop of my corrosion report. Then going to police station to do a hit and run, and make a claim. see where they send me with car. I've never dealt with or heard of Cosmos. So I would prefer maranellos or contemporary to do the work for me on the claim

Alright well I shot their night sous chef a text, he'll ask his guys if anyone happened to be taking the garbage out or smoking and witnessed anything.

Long shot, but hit and runners piss me right off.

My dash cam stays running even if my Audi is off, i have power magic pro cnnected to my blackvue and the car to avoid battery drainage, while the thing is wired to a live fuse.

I think looking at the damage it's pretty low and an A4 doesn't sit very high up either, so could it be a Hyundai/Kia with low tailights? I don't think many models have low brake lights anymore, so could it be a bumper reflector like on this of some sort?:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/44/2011_Kia_Forte_SX_hatchback_--_06-23-2011_rear.jpg/800px-2011_Kia_Forte_SX_hatchback_--_06-23-2011_rear.jpg

at first initially I thought it was that white mazda 2 or 3 in front of you but it's still there when you came out.

Thanks that is super appreciated. Michelle is going to talk to the day leader today and chance she can run over the film to see if a mentioned Hyundai hit me or anything that fits the description.

This will be the 4th time now for me. Two on my cobalt back in the day, someone hit and run my moms benz while I was borrowing a year ago when car was getting some work done, and now this one. The last two were significant damages ($6800 on cobalt, $3900 on benz)

@osspasha where did you get yours from/how much? visions did the install on mine after gpomp recommended his buddy to me, he did a clean job. but if I could plug that into a medium adapter/battery that held a charge it would have saved me a lot of trouble for what just happened

Unfortunately I don't know enough about the parts or the identification code that I got. if the 05 means it should be a 2005 accent? or if its possible to be that kia in the first video?

if the person was being super stupid and kept backing up almost straight they would have collided with my car and the level of that red strip on the back is matching.

Which would mean I would have to find that kia LWS-006 to see if a back tail light is currently missing...

I bought it with my dash cam from blackboxmycar.com for $50

its $60 if you buy it only, they are Vancouver based, they delivered my dash cam in less that 6 days with $5 shipping.

I did the wiring myself and i believe i did a very good job, i just followed the DYI in the videos below (its the same model as your audi)

I have 2 of those for sale

Make sure you report the hit and run to the police

I believe it is $500 deductible for most insurance companies

unfortunately your two for sale are double the link osspasha posted for brand new ones... but i'll be sourcing one soon after this crap

its $500 if the guy deems collision, $250 if comprehensive according to Darren

I'm giving up later today and just making the hit and run report. tapped all the friend or friend resources at earls/cameras and called around to no avail

in the slight chance the light belongs to the Kia I'd have to fluke to come across it, otherwise in a city of 1.3 million finding a 2005 accent with driver tail light knocked out is a long shot

I've contacted EVERY Hyundai dealership in Calgary asking if they could try to track someone ordering said part and two places responded but again, super super long shot, was just hoping not to get slapped like this again

first estimate came in at $2600 and that's assuming no damage behind bumper

:( Yeah sorry I had no luck, I asked two of the sous chefs and the head chef to ask their guys if anyone saw anything and nothing's come from it.

Sucks because I think hit and runners are among the lowest of the low. Person is either an absolute scumbag loser, or such a horrible driver that they didn't even realize they hit something. Or both. What a piss off.

Hope the claims process is easy for you at least.
