I've got a few things I'd like frame as they've been sitting around for a while and some of them are getting minor damage. I'd also like them on display instead of on my desk. What I'm looking for is a very basic super cheap wooden black frame with glass and possibly matting, depending on price. I like the cheap wooden ones at Wal-Mart but can't find them for my size. Here's what I have:

An original Archie strip inked and signed by artist Fernando Ruiz measuring 15.5 inches wide, 5.5 inches high.

A photo by Daniel Mcleod of 2 nude girls, signed by one of the models. Measures 19 inches wide, 13 inches high.

8 x 10 photo of me with the cast of The X-Files, signed by each member. I know, this one's easy but I thought I'd do it at the same time.

Full colour map of Springfield measuring 17 inches wide, 11 inches high.

Painting of me on canvas, measures 20 inches wide, 16 inches high, 3/4 inch deep. This one I just want a semi-gloss wooden surround made for, not so much a full frame.

I went to It's Worth Framing on Macleod Trail and I think their frames started at $100 for just the frame, I can't quite remember now. Are there shops that do non-professional framing like this?

Also if you have suggestions on how I can mount a pool ball I'd appreciate them. I had a cue ball personally autographed by Jeanette Lee and it's collecting a lot of dust on my desk. I'm afraid to wipe it off because of the signature.

I'd check Michael's for frames, their selection is huge.

The wife collects those 50% and more coupons and saves loads of frames here. I'm sure they make a ton anyway but I wouldn't pay anything more than 50% of the standard price if you go there.

OP:
Looks like 40% off this week? (it's one item at a time, and I know you have a bunch - but you may be able to swing something with the cashier /shrug). 'just check the website and should be the first thing that loads.. 'think you need to bring in a printed copy of the "coupon" though - can't remember if they were a stickler for that..

Liquidation World was liquidated last month. Doors closed for good.

He's looking for custom sized frames cheap, and you will not be able to find that cheap as it's a full on custom job. The best bet IMO is to add a border/backing to go standard size. He has a 5"x15.5" picture, mount it on a 16x20 backing, then throw it into a 16x20 frame.

Those memorabilia stores do this all the time with their awkward sized photos.

That's a great idea but I'd need matting cut to fit my comic strip. I wouldn't just want it stick it between the backing and the glass, it'd look ghetto.

Thanks! I went and picked up 8x10 and 11x17 frames for 40% off, no coupons required, there are signs all over the store. They also have 60% off custom framing, I asked how much to frame my irregular sized photos and it was about $100 with the discount. I'm going to check the poster store on 16 Avenue tomorrow to see how much they charge and if it's still over $100 then I'm just going to buy a larger frame and get them to cut me a custom mat for $25. I might even just squeeze my 19x13 photo into a 18x12 mat to save more money, should be fine.

I did see another guy framing an amazing photo though, he downloaded this image:

...and he paid a print shop $100 to print it off huge, this thing must have been 5 or 6 feet wide. He was then getting them to custom frame it, it looked really good.

And here they are, 40% off makes them pretty cheap.

This one was regularly $55, I paid $33 for it. The photo is signed by Mitch Pilleggi, Gillian Anderson and Robert Patrick, cast of The X-Files.

This one was $12, I can see why people get their pictures matted. It looks way better with a mat, I might have to reframe this one in the future.

And this one was regular $40, got it for $25. I'm going to get them to custom mat it for $25 on a black mat in the future but for now I got the frame while it was on sale. It fits real nice.

Might as well show off some other stuff I have.

One of my friends took a video of me doing a 360 off a jump at Sunshine. I pulled a still shot out of the video and put it on Facebook, then my friend's wife did a painting of it. I went to Rona and picked up some 3/4 inch pine, I'm going to mitre it into a solid frame and paint it black so it's just a solid border around the canvas. Should display real nice.

She turned this:

into this:

And I finally got around to hanging some others. The large pink haired one is an Angelina Wrona I picked up at an art shop over on 11 Street off Blackfoot, as well as the smaller one next to my snowboard. The NES cartridge was given to me in a shadow box as a thank you for putting together a Hyperspin machine for a guy. The lower one on the right is a little girl hugging an elephant which is a really nice print. My girlfriend used to live in Sri Lanka so she really likes elephants. And the larger elephant is also my girlfriend's, it's a painting with no glass.

Another Angelina Wrona. Lots of places sell these for $35 - $45 but the place I mentioned over off Blackfoot is called Art Sense and they sell them for $25, exactly the same. And I think the large pink hair one I have is usually $90, I paid $72 at Art Sense. Real cheap art over there.

And some photos I picked up on my last trip to Newfoundland. The top one is Cabot Tower on Signal Hill in St. John's. It's a stone building which was used during the wars, there are still some canons laying around on the hill as well, it overlooks the ocean on one side of the hill and the harbour with downtown St. John's on the other.
The bottom photo is from out around the bay where you can pretty much just build a house wherever you want, however you want. The little side piece sticking off the house was something from the old days, it's where the horse would sleep. It shared a wall with the home which made it a lot cheaper than a barn and it kept the horse from freezing at night.

And this is the odd shaped 19x11 I couldn't find a frame for anywhere. Still trying to find a solution for it, maybe I'll have to buy a 16x20 with a custom mat. I Photoshopped some of the picture out to keep this thread clean and safe for work. Even though there isn't any actual nipple showing.

They don't ship glass (just acrylic) but Americanframe.com will do a custom frame/mat for reasonable prices, and if you hate acrylic you can always get glass locally.
