Any know make/model?

Must be a new project for the guy hauling it. Should be quite the cool looking car when its all said and done.
I wish I had a pic of the rear end tho. Very unique looking thing.

fuck, something about that car screams at me like I should know what it is.

I see the late 70's stingray in it, Alpha Romeo, the headlights scream porsche...

I give up, but I swear to god I know it, I just can't fucking recall it.

Judging from the wheels it is a VW based kit car...?

I really want to say it is a GSM Flamingo, but it is not quite there, I wish I was more familiar with the car, or we had more pics of the back...

It really does look like one that they tried to make into a shooting brake.

No, none of the lines match up, its all the small things, it couldnt of been that to start with, you may as well just make a whole new car for how much shit is different between the two. Interesting, Im quite curious as to what this thing really is. That hub bolt pattern tells me its very much eastern European, but where and what exactly is beyond me.

round window in c pillar is unique.
plus ttops, one wiper, odd doors - two piece?, and is that towing light on back panel of auto or something attached to car permanent?

yeah, after searching more, my vote is that it is a Vokaro.

and if it is, then I had no idea, and retract my previous statements.

Look up "VW bus wheels" on google images and you'll see the same wheels.

That got me thinking (I have a bus), and those look more like beetle rims to me, so 100% a kit car IMO.

That's a Probe 16 from the movie clockwork orange, follow this link.

I have been looking around for a while now and still have no idea what this car could be, it seems to share some characteristics with Devin sports cars but that porthole window isn't on any of them.

I like the poster above who says it's a beetle kit car.
Some kind of craptastic fibreglass body over a homebuilt tube frame. Probably very unsafe, and super fun.

DeathBy240 made a post about this thing on the Elan forum (I was following his Elan build thread) last year, definitely a kit car but probably a modification of a kit, an extensive modification I guess or just a more rare of a kit:

Someone tipped me off that there was a Lotus Europa for sale, sitting oddly on top of an old shipping container in Calgary, Canada - Stu Gilmour's neck of the woods. The guy who told me about it didn't know anything about the car other than that he spotted it when he was in the industrial area. I used my detective skills and based on Google Street View, tracked the owner of the car down. He doesn't actually know much about the car, other than it doesn't run. He said he didn't know what a Lotus Europa was, but the car he had was in fact a Volkswagen Manta kit car. I looked up the Manta and it looks nothing like this car.

He said the body is totally fiberglass and the underside of the car has also been entirely glassed in. He also said a previous owner had tried, unsuccessfully, to make the doors open gullwing style. To me, that front looks very Europa-like. The rear wheel arches definitely don't look like a regular Europa though.

http://imageshack.us/a/img543/9530/c4ip.png

Did someone make a Europa knock off based on a VW platform? Any other theories?

Maybe I'll have to ask Stu if he'll go on a mission for me, as I'm a three-hour drive away.

streetview pic was taken in June 2012, so safe to assume someone bought it and it was on that trailer.

So this is a VW kit car then. Any particular model name with it or is it just like a "Frankenstein car"?

I have to say, if it indeed is for restoration, that car would look pretty cool after.

Maybe it's a custom one-off, built by Arash's dad?

No, not the clockwork orange car. :banghead:

The one I was thinking of was a Lotus 62 prototype europa. But it's still not right.

more info:

Tonight as I cruised Kijiji I found an ad that offered $1000 bucks for info on a kit car made here in Alberta. Race car? Alberta? Wha? So I started digging. Picture dump of car at end.

The car in question is a Monno Sportee Gt kit car made by Silverstar Industries during the 60's. The design is Lotus Europa-esque based and was powered by a VW motor. The thing is that it was produced (1964) before the first Europa in 1966. There was only 5 (possibly 6) produced and a prototype that has also apparently vanished. The car was designed for ice/road racing and it also won a scca road race championship in Montana being driven by Ted Mrochen. Lethbridge Sports Car Club's Facebook had a post from someone who looked like they may be selling one but I am not yet able to track down that person. The most info I could find on it was a Lotus Europa fan club blog that someone has seen one in Streetview and ended up going to purchase it.

Now for the possible 6 cars some can be accounted for but the molds were sold off when the company folded and apparently they were used in another VW kit car. After more searching it appears that Beaujangle Industries imported a car from the US to England that is almost identical to the Monno Sportee that also only had a short production run. This only adds to the mystery.

Any Oppo's know more info on this? There was a forum post of someone in Edmonton who seemed to think it could be one under a tarp at a rental property.

So it's been tracked down! Someone from NASCC was looking for this exact car - I have a feeling he's the one towing the car. Someone in AB used to campaign this for road racing if I recall the history correctly - pretty sure the car I'm talking about is the one used for the Kijiji wanted ad.

Hahaha... wow! This is so cool! I guess I laid my eyes on a piece of Alberta automotive history. I'm happy I got pics and posted them.

Like Graham said... I can't believe it's that rare and it was just sitting up on a sea can.
