I can't stand the road noise in my car with the seats down but that's the only way to bring my winters in case it snows too much, I'll be there tomorrow for sure.

Murray Peterson

It snowed almost all day today, but the snow never stuck to the pavement. Tomorrow is supposed to be warmer, so I can't see snow tires being needed,

Twin_Cam_Turbo
04-26-2014, 05:31 PM
Yeah I drove around Calgary today on the RS-3s, damn slidey but tomorrow should be good.

reijo
04-26-2014, 05:42 PM
Yes,we ran today - no problem and actually more traction than we had expected!

The traction is likely due to the very aggressive aggregate int he airport asphalt mix used and sharp edges such that cold and wet conditions do not affect the traction as much.

So, we had an enjoyable day.

This morning there was a bit of snow but the pavement around town was simply wet (ground is warm enough now) so there should be no problem driving down tomorrow on summers.

And, you won't have a problem with traction on the pavement as we saw yesterday - drier and warmer tomorrow.

So c'mon down!

Ya today was a blast.... I think I might of had more fun driving my C63 than I did driving at Las Vegas exotics racing lol.

Great day.

Happy with how my BRZ did, just needs a few tweaks down the road.

Murray Peterson
04-28-2014, 06:51 PM
In my car, the driver needs the tweaks. The car is under-prepared by a long shot, but it's still my driving that is the limiting factor. I left over a second on the table this weekend, and that second would have been enough for the win :(

More schooling, more practise...

I am not anywhere near good enough but I think the key for me is looking further ahead and more seat time, I want to set my car and forget it so it's the same every event instead of constantly battling changes like I have in the past.

Looking ahead is the permanent fixture of this sport :) I prefer to call it by a different name: planning and scanning ahead.

You were beating me by 3 seconds with a 140hp disadvantage, I'd say you're driving is pretty good

Want to spend the entire weekend getting some serious seat time?

Last minute drop in the local SoloPro Driving School at Fort Macleod Airport and the one person on the wait list said he already made plans.

Anyone interested in an Intro School on Saturday? The place is yours if you speak up! First come, first served.

There are also some Comp spots open.

Let me know quick ... I'm heading south tomorrow (Friday) afternoon but will be in touch via the 'net some time Friday evening thereafter.

This is a really good chance for someone to get some serious coaching and seat time this weekend for both days!

Cheers!

Next events this coming weekend - practice/school on Sat. June 28 and Championship event on Sunday, June 29 - Fort Macleod Airport:

Sign up here: http://www.karelo.com/restdetail.php?&BT=10&BID=334

On the Saturday, it appears we have a few younger people looking for a school and I'm thinking I will make it a bit more formal "school" ... sort of like the SASC winter schools but perhaps with slightly more competition focus, of course.

So, if you know someone who would be interested in trying autox/autoslalom/slalom/solo competition without the pressure, this would be a good one for them. Let them know - this coming Saturday, June 28.

BTW, the site is large enough that we are able to have a separate school course so that the practice can go on unhindered.....if necessary.

See you out there!

July 19/20 is being changed to a WCMA (Western Canada Motorsport Association) regional event! There is no practice except that we may set up a practice event on the Friday (July 18).

This is something being organized a bit last minute but is a work in progress. It's going to be a bigger event with people from throughout the province and likely from outside there .... So it would be a definitely fun event to attend!

How is the regional event going to be ran? 3 runs Saturday + 3 runs Sunday and the best of each combined? Or will they be ran as separate events? Do the points count towards CSCC/SASC championship? I don't know if I'll be able to attend both days.

reijo
06-24-2014, 04:03 PM
For the Regional Championship there is a minimum of 3 runs each day (4 is more likely). Your best time of each day is added together to determine your final finishing place for the WCMA regional event.

However for club points, you have a valid question/point since originally only the Sunday would count and that may still be the case. I have to discuss that with Stuart.

thanks Murray ... couldn't recall the Century II when I wrote the post....

14 signed up for Saturday and 17 for Sunday right now ... A number of us went to Packwood, WA for the SCCA National Tour and Pro Solo these past two weekends and just got back (just last night myself) so there will be a bump to the numbers within the next few days as we get our bearings again.

Murray Peterson

19 Saturday, 27 Sunday at this point.

Any attempt to predict attendance is difficult, since so many people register at the last minute.

reijo
07-18-2014, 09:20 AM
I have 19 and 27 respectively on karelo right now ... and missing a couple or three of people I know of who have not signed up yet so say 22 and 30 thus far.

But Friday tends to be the busiest sign-up day so later in the day is the true number plus 5-10 who show up at the site .... so similar nos. to the last day we had out there at the airport for Sunday and somewhat less on Saturday.

Sometimes it depends on the weather too however we do run in the rain and down in Fort Macleod if it rains at all it usually is of short duration so we get mainly dry days even when rain is forecast.

There is more information at the CSCC web site regarding extra prizes such as cash, give-aways (car goodies), coupons and there will also be event T-shirts (and they look really good ... going to get a couple myself). You are likely to come home with some goodies.

Can someone confirm the tire/wheel rules on an otherwise stock car for me?

Can increase diameter of wheel by 1"
Width to remain stock
Offset to remain stock
Can use optional sizing from the factory

Tire must be 7/32nd with 200 wear rating.

1 question..

I want to come and plan on either bringing my E92 S/C M3 or my B5 S4..

The one thing I am worried about is my M3 being too loud.. In the self-declatation form it states that sound levels must be within limits of the event, how loud are these limits?

Thanks.

I am not going to name any names, but my buddy is running headers plus straight pipe exhaust on his Corvette and hasn't had any issues this year thus far. Even at Castrol race way no one complained, I wouldn't worry about it.
