Dont get me wrong, I love this vert, but isnt Z06 supposed to be the hardcore track version of the vettes? Think they should save the top down for a different trim.

Traditionally yes; Z06's came in hard-tops only and were targeted towards the weekend track junkie. But I guess the chassis is a lot stiffer this generation so they made a vert/auto to appeal to the sun-bathers and hippies.

A few people wanted a Z06 vert but couldn't get one in the previous generations so they settled for a vert base car... but most of them never modded their cars to 'Z06' spec anyways (in terms of HP or suspension), nor tracked the cars. They just wanted the badge.

More or less the same story with the auto; Gm never offered a Z06 auto and some people wanted a Z06 auto. Most of those people were never interested in tracking the car either. They just wanted bragging rights.

And now we come to this generation where every version comes in a vert and auto. Smart(er) for business... I just hope that we are not witnessing the very death of the coupe and manual transmission sports car.
