That's mad skills being able to apply the right amount of torque with a hammer lol.

Cool video!

Odd how they only changed the front tires in the 1950 clip. Also that torquing technique is awesome lol.

Uh, all but one of the cars in the '50 Indy 500 were 4 cylinders either 4.5L NA or 3.0L compressors.
The lone exception was a blown straight 6.

21 dudes? Really? Nascar pit stops are more impressive. They have to deal with five lugs per wheel, and a crew of four or five guys.

Uh, I was referring to the V8s of 2013 vs the turbo V6 this year, not the 50s. But good job of Googling the 1950 engine specs.

Of course the second one was faster, they didn't wash the windshield.

But did they refuel in the 2nd one?

second one failed. Didn't light up a cigarette and take a few puffs before taking off again

They need to start making the drivers get out of the car and change their own tires.

NASCAR is 6 over the wall (sometimes 7 if officials say so).

Never the less, we're comparing apples and oranges here - refueling and 5 times as many wheel lug nuts in NASCAR combined with 2/3's less people over the wall means way longer pit stops.

Regardless of any of this, pit stops in each series are amazing and often can heavily influence the eventual outcome of a race.

This. I don't think the guys in the old days were any less efficient, they were just doing a different job. In fact, that guy changing the tires worked his ass of far more than any of the guys in the new video.

yup just ask Lewis Hamilton, his pit crew rly needs to step it up lol, 4 seconds compared to Rosberg getting under 3 seconds almost every pit stop.
