Good news if you thought the BMW M235i was just not enough car to do the 2-series badge justice. Bimmerpost is reporting that the BMW M2 will start production in Fall of 2015 with vehicles arriving late 2015 or early 2016. Not too much is known about the M2 at this point with no official confirmation from BMW. What we do know is that the M2 will be powered by a turbo-charged inline-6 3.0L (N55) that will produce around 365-375 horsepower.

Wow it looks pretty nice in that rendering. Great to see another choice for a small powerful car will likely be coming to the market, it is a great time to be a car guy!

FFS LOL

Looks nice but really similar to the M235i. Not sure another 50 HP will really do much. The key to it will be weight savings and that render has a metal roof. I wonder where they will drop the weight? Also a bit frustrating that M will just pull some more horsepower out of the engine...

Still with the m245i hitting 4.4-4.5 0-60 in independent testing this thing will be FAST. Probably quickest in the lineup. 1M successor

No regrets in the end though I love my car.

I know I am going to want one but won't be able to afford one. The struggle is real.

At least it's not limited production. You can wait lol.

Your new car is pretty nice I wouldn't make a move yet.

Looks sexy.. very nice.

Would rather buy a e82 135i with the n54 and tinker with the suspension though..

Looks awesome. I don't know how you'd ever choose between that and something like an RS3. Such great looking cars with all the right ingredients.

How was the 1 series in the winter? I would see a few of them around town and always wondered how they faired in bad conditions. I never had any issues with my Mustang GT in the snow outside of having issues getting up the driveway or just out of my circle.

Should be an awesome car, especially with them using a lot of the drive train out of the m3/m4. The longer wheelbase of the 2 won't make it a widow maker like the 1m is.

As for 1's in the winter, they're perfectly fine, a lot better than any of the domestic rwd car's I've driven. BMW does a great job with their traction and stab. control.

Other than the useless open diff no worse than any other rwd car I found.
