I've had the pleasure of working in the Peace Country over the past 4-5 months (Dawson Creek, Grande Prairie, Peace River etc.) and have been looking at buying land as a long term investment. This place seems poised to boom with LNG and all of the oil and gas projects.

It might even outpace places like Calgary in terms of real estate prices. What do you guys think?

Did someone tell you that they will double your investment in 5 years?

I could see Peace River having a bit of potential but most workers are transient and the ones working at the plant, have been there for awhile now.

Grand Prairie I could definitely see some potential. They are a major hub and will be for awhile

I lived in GP for a year and worked with a few people who had farms in the Peace Country. From what they tell me prices are high right now. If you would have got in 10 (even 5 years ago) you could have made out alright.

Development in the region is pretty steady, any boom we see from LNG will be much much further north (Horn River Basin, Fort Nelson area).

Prices are not exactly low currently.
