Hello again everyone...

So I moved into my place this winter. Built brand new. I am wondering about laying sod or building a fence first.

Some say to fence first then lay sod. Done the opposite way may cause damage to your sod. Any advice?

Also, I have been told to wait at least a year before doing anything landscaping wise. Let the house/ground settle out first.

What do you think?

Fence. Trees/shrubs. Then sod.

Do you wipe off the counters before or after you sweep the floor?

Do the fence now right after you level the ground out the way you want it. Do the sod at the end of Sept.

If sod goes first, the fence process would make a huge mess of the sod work. That's just imo

Fence first for sure. Having a bobcat driving all over your lawn drilling post holes will make a mess of it.

Sweep floor, wipe counter into sink.

As for OP, fence first.

haha, dammit. that's what my girl friend said. Half of my counter isn't attached to my sink.

I did sod in June last year and no problems other than a huge water bill :dunno:

I did my sod for my past and current house at the end of Aug / Sept.
Reason being I watered less and didn't have to mow the lawn until next spring. :D

It's usally cheaper at the end of the season and as long as the ground isn't frozen you can lay sod. Plus it will give his dirt time to settle over the summer. Only problem will be weeds all summer.

Thanks for all the input. I just got home and I see the weeds are starting to invade.

Get on the weeds ASAP. Pull them or give them a Round-up bath. Last year with how mine and my neighbor's schedules worked out one side of my yard had a fence before we laid sod and the other side got it done after. If the sod hasn't fully rooted you can pull it back a bit to dig your holes (pretty much excludes doing it with a bobcat at that point though). My yard is small so you can't really tell the difference. However its much easier to lay sod after the fence is in.

sodding was always the last day of any landscape project i worked on. so fence for sure.
