Hello

Question for you (when at remote location using RV)

My UPS is a standard one that has 2 12 volt batteries in series to produce 24v.

If i add a solar panel and charge controller and feed it to the 12volt portion of the battery bank - would this be safe?

As the solar panel only produces between 10v-18v

Thank you.

So you would be simply charging your batteries in parallel and discharging in series. Not withstanding unbalanced battery charge levels, your setup should work fine.

Don't forget to add in some circuitry for overcharging. or test the voltage every now and then.

If he's using the solar charging controller it will do all that for him.

Although I did just realize he wants to charge only one 12 volt battery in an 24v system. Which probably wouldn't be the best idea.
