My shop received a HP desktop (W7) with the symptom being "No speakers are plugged in".
What I've done to no avail:
- Confirmed both the rear and front audio ports show the same message.
- Removed and re-installed the audio drivers. The HP site has only one driver for the audio.
- Updated the BIOS (no chipset update was available).
This computer has an AGP port, but only PCI-E-X1 for the other ports.
I've got dozens of "standard" PCI audio cards, but not one for the available ports.
QUESTION:
I'll spend the $50.00 for this experiment to see if if I can audio via the PCI-Ex1 but what do you think are the odds of this working?
