So, I got this dual sim Lenovo P780 running on Android 4.2.1 but can't get it to work with Telus or Bell. I checked the frequencies before I got it and it looked like it would be fine. The phone recognizes both sims as Telus and Bell but nothing works, but it does find Rogers but changing carriers at this time isn't an option. Through more searching it seems that this phone won't work for Telus or Bell. I've gone through every forum I can find for solutions, rooted it, flashed it with the english ROM and have tried multiple different modem software but nothing seems to work. I've also gone through every setting on the phone and no go there either.

At this point I'm ready to get rid of it and accept that it just won't work here, but as I'm not that familiar with Androids maybe someone can shed some light on the subject. Or if someone has some magical skills to get it working, I'll be happy to pay.

Thanks for the confirmation guys. I was looking forward in not having to carry two devices and this phone had some very good specs and a huge 4000mah battery. Oh well I guess I'll have to research more next time.

You still can get some dual sim phones from overseas that will handle canadian networks.

Are the new dual sim phones able to use both numbers simultaneously or is that still not possible?

The ones we were provided with have to be switched back and forth in the settings and it completely defeats the purpose IMO as I miss all notifications of the one number when im using the other number.

From what I read since I cant test, you can place and receive calls at any time with both sims and don't need to switch it in the settings. Same thing goes for messaging. you can set either sim as primary or make it so you can choose which one it uses. When making a call, there are two phone buttons for the two sims and you can set the colors for them as we'll.

I did some research as I wanted to only carry one phone and ended up getting a Samsung S4 Mini Duos. They work simultaneously on this one and I only have a date plan on one of the numbers so only use that for data.

When you sending texts beside the typing box it gives you options of sending with sim 1 or 2. Similar thing while placing phone calls. I have a widget that lets me switch easily between the two within seconds.
