With assistance from kenny, spikers and mr2mike, here are the details of the group camping trip.

When: Friday August 22 – Sunday August 24th

Where: Oldman Dam PRA – Three Rivers Group site (Right next to Cottonwood Campground, and yes, this is open and running for 2014)
Directions: Due to flood damage in 2013, you CANNOT access this location from Hwy 785. Access is from Hwy 3 on Range Road 29-3. Google maps suggests taking hwy 2 south from Calgary as per the link. Hwy 22 is also an option and very similar distance.
MAP LINK (https://goo.gl/maps/qsxF0 )

Cruise: Tentative cruise from Calgary on Saturday August 23. Currently nobody has stepped up to organize this, please PM myself or spikers if you would like to volunteer.

BBQ: sometime saturday. Once cruise is figured out we will nail down the time.

Camping notes: Please bring fresh water, there is none availible here or at cottonwood. Please bring a couple bundles of firewood if you can. We are going to try to put all the people with children at one end, if you are planning on staying up late and partying, let me know so we can put you close to the action.

Feel free to respond with your RSVP in this thread. I will edit this post with any updates or new info.

Current attendance:
ExtraSlow +3

I will tentatively start the cruise portion, until someone else can be found.

Please indicate if you are coming out for the cruise as well, and we can figure out a fun route to the campsite and back.

does anybody want some free fishing weights/anchors?

Now that's it's really summer, I'll bump this back up. RSVP is not mandatory, but does help us with the planning.

We are also still looking for someone who is not camping to take care of the cruise and raise some awareness with the non-camping crowd.

Another bump to remind everyone about this event.
As of May we had good interest.

If I don't go to AutoX that weekend, I'll come down on the cruise. Hell, I think the AutoX is in Fort Macleod so maybe I can visit you guys after :D

K guys, so after talking with Chris/Spikers, The cruise is as follows.

At 12PM the 23rd of August, you all will be meeting at the home Depot parking lot in Shawnessey. Thats this one here
https://www.google.ca/maps/place/The+Home+Depot/@50.8991249,-114.0523488,14z/data=!4m5!1m2!2m1!1shome+depot+shawnessy+calgary!3m1!1s0x537175d8ed234215:0x7327bc397a8b985

From there? you guys should easily have enough time to make the BBQ down at the camp site for 2pm. For instructions as to where to go? refer to the map on the first page. Id repost it here, but there is no point as its quite clear as to where to go. If any doubts, PM Spikers..... Or just follow his new Red Ford F150 pulling a camper trailer.

Park in the north end of the front parking lot (farthest from the building), as there is gobs of room there.

Ummm, if you are following a red ford f-150 on the 23rd, it won't be me...I will already be there and camping, setting up for the BBQ and cooking the meats for when the cruise arrives...

Instead of bringing firewood, can we just bring a chainsaw?

I'm going to assume you are serious. We are inside a provincial receration area. You are not permitted to cut your own firewood anywhere near this location. Please do not bring a chainsaw.

I was serious. I don't mind getting a firewood permit, and I wasn't sure what type of site this is. I will just bring firewood as I usually do as I have looked up this site and I see it's actually just a regular group site.

ExtraSlow

Yeah, I've done the cut-your-own thing before, but this isn't that kind of site.

So who's actually going on the cruise? If there's at least one other (and the weather is good), I'm in. Otherwise I'll go play around in Fort Macleod :burnout:

^ we should get a cruise roll call in, as there seems to be a lot of confusion over whose all going.

So whose planning on going for the cruise?
Xnvy, who else?

I won't be attending anything myself as I'm out in sask with the fall harvest.
