Anyone on here have a safe at home? I'm looking for one right now and have no clue how to even begin comparing them.

Its going to be mainly for important documents, so I'm assuming something fireproof is a good idea.

Are there any good/bad brand names?

If you are looking for documents (paper) to protect from fire (and subsequently water), you will want something with the longest fire rating possible. If theft is not a concern than a fireproof cabinet will most likely be cheaper and have longer ratings.

SentrySafe is a popular brand and make a full range of cabinets to safes from ratings measured in minutes to hours.
