Hey guys, I'd like to get myself a new used car but I don't know what kind I'd like to get.

I've got about $12,000 to spend and I'd like to get something that is quite fast. Any suggestions? (Please don't suggest a Mustang)

Thanks.

Lex Sc 300 or 400. Late 90's. You can find them at a great price with moderate miles on them. I believe that they are reasonably modable. Plus, many of them have great records on them (serviced by lex) all thier life. Maybe driven by an old lady and never redlined.

Dude the depends where you are, what currency you are speaking of...and a whole lot of other factors, I mean you cant just buy a fast car and call it a day, ther eis registration, insurance, and the big one...maintainance...

DSM's are wicked fast with a few mods (TALONS, ECLIPSES)
MK III Supras, can be made very quick as well...
Pretty much anything with a turbocharger, or supercharger can be made very quick, but there is usually more work involved in keeping it running in top shape...

*EDIT*

MUSTANGS ROCK MAN...pick one of those up...kidding:D

$12000 eh? How about a genuine 88 Nissan Silvia K's?! She's fast when you turn up the boost controller.

Heh 12,000 is hardly enough criteria. Are you looking for something sporty, big, small, versatile, chic, etc etc.

I can tell you a vehicle that is underappreciated and is well worth the $9,000 it would cost to pick one up, but its an automatic sedan, and the only reason I recommend it is because it was my previous car, very reliable, good on gas, and if you ever do decide to mod it, although there isn't hardly any aftermarket for it, you can make a vehicle that really rocks with a simple (ok not so simple) tranny swap.

What I want is something that looks sporty, is quick but I don't want to have to mod it to be fast, and can fit someone who is 6'4"; it can be a tight fit though as long as I'm not hitting my head on the roof of the car.

I dunno I was kind of thinking of a 98 or 99 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP.

What do you guys think of that kind of a car?

GTP's are really nice cars, and are fairly powerful, but a DSM for very lil money can be made very quick, cane be aqquired cheaply, and are plentiful...the potenial for a DSM is high and a lot can be done with it...

Are you working for Eagle now Cyc? Don't come knocking on my door at 9am sunday preachin' your DSM shi...LOL JK

I agree with Cyclone...DSM can be made fast for little cabbage but if you don't like the styling, you don't like the styling, suggetions can go on all day without more help from you...domestic, import, euro etc...help us help you man...LOL

The gtp super charger has an estimated life of around 40 000k. granted it will probably last a lot longer, but its an expensive item to replace. As for pontiac in general, meh. the cars are nothing special.

Go find yourself a merkur, pick it up for a few thousand, and the other 9000 put into engine/exhuast etc etc....get that thing running around 300 hp :) none of this FWD junk either.

I agree... Merkurs are sweeeeeet. I have one myself. The turbo went bad and it smokes like crazy so, i don't drive it.
For 12,000 tho, other than fixing my Merk...i'd get a 89-92 240 coupe, slap a silvia front end on that baby, throw a SR20DET under the hood, LSD, etc... and many sets of tires....well thats thats just my dream. But since ur looking at Grand Prix...seems like ur looking into 4 doors... i'd look into the Contour SVO...drives pretty nice, and looks pretty sweet...

by the way...hey whats up..this is my first post here :bigpimp:

If you want to go Euro, you can pick up a 928, 924, 944 Porsche, mid-late 80's for under 12g. or a 91~ VR6 VW Corrado..

Or if you like the Jap thing, and want to be unique, import something like a Silvia K as mentioned above. Or a Skyline GT-S type thing. Or the domestic built Jap stuff, I'm sure you can get a late 80's early 90's supra, RX-7...

If you want something faster and want to shell out a bit more money, I think you can find a few 94-98 Impreza WRX's in that price range.

If you want to make something faster, buy a 240sx and do an SR20 swap.

Don't go domestic :) you don't want to support america do you ?
