I just want a basic rebuild, check the block and heads, new seals all over, and install an aftermarket cam set I bought.

Problem is, my garage isn't big enough to take the engine out myself to bring it somewhere, so I need a reliable place that I can just drop the entire truck off, and pick it up when it's done. (and a place that won't take forever to do it either, hopefully over the course of 2 weeks while I'm on vacation)

Any suggestions?

Edit: I should add, this is a 70's carb'd engine, not efi or anything

Frick, there is a machine shop that my bro took his SBC 383 too, they do amazing work. Just 5 stars really, although a full on engine rebuild? I dont know. I'll call him tomorrow and see what he has to say.

Id like to know too, since I have a '97 F250HD with a 460 that needs an engine rebuilt for it too, its an old farm truck.

FWIW? You're crazy rebuilding a 460 for much of anything really. As good as it gets for fuel economy with anything that has one, is about 10mpg. And thats literally as good as it gets, it only gets worse from there. :nut:

I had a 460 in a 1977 F250. super cab and 8' box made on loooong beast. got between 6 and 8 mpg depending on the day. Loved that truck.

Things chugging coolant, and leaking oil. As much as I'd like to do some sweet swap, I know my dad had his rebuilt last year for $2g, and that's about all I have for it right now.
