I am interested to see how the beyond demographic has changed since the thread from seven years ago.

Include salary and additional cash compensation.

Seriously, only ballers post in these threads. Once the resident ballers posts everyone else will just feel inadequate....kind of like going on a double date with Lexington Steele.

I think as with all of these threads, you are going to get a biased result. Half of the people exaggerate to feel better about about where they sit compared to others. People also also don't discern between their salary, total cash compensation, and total compensation.

If you were making 50K a year in the old poll (2006),

using this website

http://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/related/inflation-calculator/

In todays standard, $57,326 just doesn't seem right for some reason. Or maybe 50k doesn't go as far these days as it would've in 2006.

$100,000-$124,999

Keep in mind the original thread was asking for "sarting / first job post graduation" wages. You could have people who voted as new-grads in the first thread now well into their careers or professional designations, with significant increases in salary over 7 years.

At my last job, I decided there were this many components of my total compensation:
- Salary
- Bonus
- LTI (stock with delayed vesting)
- RRSP matching
- DC Pension
- Health Benefits
- Life Insurance (including critical illness)
- Parking

Some people also like to calculate the cash value of the vacation, which can help compare jobs that may offer different vacation amounts.

For a lot of oil and gas professionals with 10+yrs experience, you total compensation with all those things will be around 2x your base salary.
