Third party keyboards! Widgets! Predictive text! Siri can tell you what song is playing! All leading edge stuff!

I was hoping to see iMessage ported to other platforms.

New OS, new dev language, new 3D engine.

Homekit and Healthkit seems to be the next front on apps.

BBM only got opened when Blackberry dies. Apple got way to more $ to burn than Blackberry, this will never happen.

yeah some of the features definitely was still to catch up on what android has

still really good improvements for iOS and for people that prefer it over android

I love IOS app silo and seems like Apple is breaking that.

So now there may be so many more issues when data is passed from one app to another. So I really doubt iOS will be as solid as before as Apple more it more flexible and break it open.

Not impossible since they are chumy with Bing. But sine MS has competitor in Skype, I really doubt this will happen either.

This is VERY welcome and a long time coming:

The new, tweaked Messages app in iOS 8 allows you to add or remove people from a group conversation. And also allows you to enable ‘Do Not Disturb’ thread-wise, and share location with your contacts.

What a essentially a design flaw/bug is now a new feature...

This is a developers conference- the new code is likely the biggest story her, albeit not really a consumer facing one.

Certainly not the focus of the keynote.

They spent 1.5 hours on the Retail Consumer facing updates for OSX and iOS. 25 minutes on developer related updates.

Sorry, you are indeed right from a story side. I know I was reading the live-blogs to see what new features are coming out. Lord knows I'm somewhat of a Apple whore haha - iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad, Time Capsule, Airport Express, 2 Apple TVs and 2 iPhones in our house haha.

I was more thinking about what is actually going to impact the final user experience the most over time.

It certainly seems iOS and OSX are on a convergent path.
