BlackBerry CEO John Chen had told us in March that BlackBerry would be bringing back the Bold 9900, and yesterday it arrived at ShopBlackBerry.com in the US. As of now, the Bold 9900 is set as a “pre-order” for $399, with no specific date of availability. BlackBerry is putting the Bold 9900 on the same price tier as the Q10, but more expensive than the Z10, and Q5. It’ll definitely be interesting to see how much demand there is for a device that’s almost three years old.

I get it people loved the trackpad and BB7 compared to BB10 due to the changes in how BB handles emails but really this is pretty crazy.

Either bring those features back or release a new version of the phone.

Yeah, pretty sure thats driven mostly by old dudes that were only finally figuring the thing out. As a BB10 user, I love the current OS. Trackpad would be nice but not enough to get my panties in a bunch.

Four hundred bucks for a BB? Errrrm, no. Even as a buy who hates his current iphone, that seems expensive.

my Q10 seems to be having issues lately with super fast typing... double taps keys randomly, makes for retarded looking sentences. random periods, etc

I don't mind my BB10. Why would I wanna go back to that POS phone which had no idea how to run the internet at all? Then again, if work didn't pay for my cell, I'd still have a flip phone.

I get re-releasing it but why not take the opportunity to bump up the specs?? 5.0mp rear camera, restarting the OS every time you add/update or remove an app...

Blackberry pls.

That's a common problem popping up in Q10's. I just had one replaced under warranty. It will get worse - try to get it replaced.

I know of one company that could no longer find used bolds for its staff. It forced them to iphones which all the staff have a deep hate on for. I am sure they will be all over a re-release.
I have been trying to buy a q10 for months, but nobody has any stock left.

I love my old Bold 9900, one of the best if not THE best phone I've ever had. Went over to the HTC One, great phone nonetheless, but I miss a lot of BB features. For sure missing the kb still.....touch screen typing just isn't the same. I always end up with random letters in my words haha.

On the S3, I hit the b key instead of the space key all the time which drives me nuts. I'll type out an email, andbitbshowsbupblikebthis.

Haven't had any problems with my Q10, fingers crossed! For a work email device it's great!

I don't think they will because they will run BB7. That and the track pad are only reason this phone could still be in demand. Q10 would be the perfect phone if it still offered the same data compression. I loved traveling with my 9900 and only having to by a 10mb plan for a week of travel in Asia for email.

As a current Q10 user, I love the new OS. Dont think I can ever go back to my old 9900

I always made a lot of mistakes but the word guessing and correction algorithms of Windows Phone helped out tons, and now I just use swipe keyboard and I can definitely type way faster than before with a hardware keyboard.

That is robbery.

Ditto. Damn near every time. It's got to the point where I gave up and just send the texts like that now.

I miss the BB keyboard. With a passion. Touch screens are for tiny hands or something.

Unfortunately I'd never be able to go back to the OS or small screen after the last couple years with Nexus phones.

Funny - my organization is sitting on stockpiles of 9900s and people are complaining because they've been forced into a 9900 instead of the new iphones that others are getting.

Our company all of a sudden has had a plague of locked accounts. It got kicked up to me to investigate on a domain level. Could not find anything wrong. Our managers said "Well there is SOMETHING wrong with the network!"....

We recently deployed 250 iPhones because users were crying for the new toy. As a result they keep locking themselves out trying to enter in their password for various web services. :banghead:

Isn't the 9900 an old model?

Why would they be re releasing the phone?

with the thread title I thought someone bumped this topic from 2009.. I am not understanding whats so special...

If one were to get blackberry on TELUS and do RDP desktop to his/her home computer, does the connection go to the BS/RIm sever in Ontario?? and return back? or did they get rid of that non sense..

I believe Sugarphreak when he said he could do it in seconds.

I used to be able to take a picture on my 9700, and attach that picture in an email and send it to whoever with a subject really really quick. It was awesome. Put the phone back into my pocket and I was 100% confidence it sent.

Pretty sure it never did. Email went through BIS or a corporate BES server. BBM went through blackberry servers. Internet was straight out the carrier or out via your company's corporate BES server (if it was setup that way)

Anyways, RDP internet etc is straight out, does not go through blackberry network.

As much as I loved the BB keyboard on the 3 (maybe 4 lost count) bb I've had, my favorite form factor is still HTC Dream / T-Mobile G-1
5 row qwerty so I didn't have shift #'s and still a full sized screen.

Ok so that 'Classic' looks like the Q10 with the trackpad. I'm used to my Q10 without the trackpad but would definitely welcome it back. Not sure what I think of the 'Passport' :nut:

During the special meeting today after the initial earnings call where BlackBerry beat street estimates of performance. BlackBerry is padding the good news train with a tease of 3 devices for fiscal year 2015 aka most of calendar 2014.

Pictured we see the much rumored Passport device a 4.5inch QWERTY phablet that sizes up much like an actual passport. The device will come out in Black and White and have a rich accessory ecosystem for end-users to take advantage of. The once named Q20 which has been renamed as the BlackBerry Classic to bridge the BB10 and BBOS user bases an of course the Z3 which is set to launch with an LTE variant with added RAM by the end of this year.

Overall these new devices will keep people looking forward as BlackBerry works tirelessly to deliver on their commitments and hyper focus on on enterprise mobility software, services and hardware.
