Part of a $145 Billion slam of the greater tobacco industry. Thats a lot of cigarettes, but still probably write-offable as cost of doing business.

There is a great documentary on this, it's actually quite sad what a hatchet job they did on her. In truth, she didn't sue for big money, the judge hit mcdonalds with huge putative damages for continually skirting safety issues in favour of cost cutting.

The film is called "hot coffee"

It truly is a shame people keep believing the BS version.

For those who wont watch but still have the misconception she 'sued for millions because coffee was hot'

-She had third degree burns that required skin grafts

-McDonalds coffee was served at temps much hotter than coffee is usually served at was the basis of the suit

-She offered to settle for $20,000

-McDonalds also rejected plea deals of $90,000 and $225,000

-The $2.86M awarded by the jury was reduced to $640,000 by the judge
