hey guys, simple question. I'm driving to Seattle next weekend and my canadian passport expires on Dec 2014. Like the title suggests, will US customs let me in as it's under the 5 month expiration period?

Thanks!

should be good as long as you leave before your passport expires.

I believe you need to have 6 months before expiry to be let in. Could be hit or miss depending on the border guy. You can pay and get it rushed so just go do it this week

I doubt they will hassle you about a weekend in Seattle... You are Canadian right?

You will be fine. My brother left in June with 90 days left until expiry, no issues.

Information here:
https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/619/kw/canadian%20passport%20expiry%20dates

"Canadian Citizens' passports are NOT required to be valid for six months past their intended date of departure. Their passports must only be valid up until the date of their intended departure"

I've done it before. No issues.

Just make sure you're not vague about when you're planning to return...they hate that.

Have the exact date that you're planning to come back ready for them and it won't be a problem...if you say "somewhere around next tuesday unless I find anything else to do" be prepared to spend some time talking to the customs & imigration folks.

Awesome, thanks guys! Yes i'm Canadian, I didn't think it'd be a big issue as I imagine there are folks out there that do this all the time but I just wanted to be sure before I head down there and get turned around based on some technicality lol. Thanks guys!
