POV/action cam

I've been thinking about getting an action cam for the past few days, reading stuff on the internet here and there. Where is a better place to get some feedback than here, right?

GoPro is the one brand that I see the most, on people's helmet, motorsports and their dogs/cats. I'm never a big fan of the boxy shape. It just looks weird IMO.

Out of all the other competitors, the Sony AS100VR caught my eyes. It is more streamline, about 100bux cheaper than the Hero3+black. The earlier models had problem with buggy software but it appears that this one is much improved.

They both look very comparable on paper. Video samples on the internet means nothing since they are all compressed anyway. Pros and cons, fire away.

I own several GoPro models and they have excellent picture quality, but have their problems. You should look at the camera Garmin is making now, adds in GPS logging into the mix. Works great on the rally car my friend races in.

Yeah the Garmin VIRB elite has GPS but the price is almost the same as the Sony AS100 which also has GPS tracking, and live view remote in addition. I think Sony has the edge over Garmin in the video/cam side of products.

These guys did a pretty thorough comparison. The Sony won.

Yeah I read that, that helmet is pretty epic lol.

So far I haven't read anything bad with the Sony. I'll go check it out in person soon.

The Hero 4 should be out in september.

From foxoffer.com the SJ4000 is an amazing and cheap action cam if you want to try one out. Only 100 dollars. I have one and its amazing.
