Seems like Spotify is almost in Canada.

https://www.spotify.com/ca-en/invite/

Invite codes to be the first to get a membership.

Agreed.
Now they're going to have to claw over users already setup on current Canadian music streaming subscribers.

Hope it won't be like youtube where there's lots of content "NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY." :bullshit:

So anyone have a code? :D

How does Spotify work? Is it just a streaming music service you pay for, and you can select what type of music, or is it a place for you to download all your music, and surf through it?

Yea I don't know very much about this app at all. How is it any different than say Songza...other than the fact that it doesn't seem like it's free?

I think you can create personal playlists. As in you pick song by song. It's like carrying your whole music library on a streaming service.

That's an illusion, because you don't own any music and once you unsubscribe you cannot even export your playlists that you spent hours and hours creating. You leave with nothing.

No different than itunes. You technically don't own the music. Just the license to listen to it.

I have been using rdio for over 2 years. And I could care less about exporting the music. I lose interest in an album after a few listens anyways.

can you create offline playlists to reduce the amount of data used on your phone?

Offline playlists seems to only be in premium mode for a fee.

You guys can try my access code. Maybe it works for more than 1 time.

Damn, I tried. I guess sign up and hope for a quick turn around for a code.

I just remember BBM being able to share codes across people and it would work to get access to their server.

Seems to be working well on my Android.
Haven't set playlists, etc but most albums I've looked into are there.
Buffering is good.

Signed up this morning and got my code just now.

Running like a champ, very quick, everything I have looked into is there. Dont love the mandatory shuffle setting bit but I guess unless you are a premium member you gotta live with it.

No casting available kills it for me. Supposedly you can get the app for some Samsung TVs but I couldn't find it. Airplay might work but I returned my AppleTV.
Anyone stick in their CC to try Premium and use Connect yet? Review?

Edit: there's a 7 day trial where you don't need to enter a CC. Connect feature worked with my Pioneer receiver.

I'm fine with no casting. Just use Bluetooth to connect to most of my speakers.

So regarding the "offline mode" that's available with the premium service; does that store the songs on your device (taking up memory) or does it simply just cache/buffer the data?

Interesting Note: I watched a Netflix documentary titled Downloaded and it was about Napster. Sean Parker, one of the co-founders of Napster, owns Spotify. I thought that was interesting.

Ajoo: it saves the file to your phone. But you can't really save it to your computer after. It's a Spotify file.
