Done anyone have or know of a family doctor who's accepting new patients? I'm looking to get one. I haven't had a family doctor or gone in for a check up in YEARS and I'm not so sure a trip to get checked for STIs counts so time to consider my overall health.

Looks like a long wait using this site though.

Depending where you live, there could be a clinic in your area accepting new patients. Best way really is to take a cruise around and see what clinics are around, and either walk in to ask the reception or call.

The website posted above should refer you to a Primary Care Network clinic but it may take some time. If you are just looking for a physical then it might not matter to you, even if you have to wait several months.

You could also check out the U of C Med School.. I mean the Cumming School of Medicine (http://http://cumming.ucalgary.ca/clinics) ... (yes really) Teaching Clinics which seem to be accepting new patients.

My gripe is all the doctors accepting new patients are brutal.
Barely speak english, add the medical jargon and I might as well use webMD as my general practitioner.

I have some friends that are doctors so I generally am comfortable asking them questions but they work out in BC so they can't really be my doctor. So I get by with questions to them or I find the Health Link phone # really good but you need to be really good at describing what's going on. Not, I have a cough for a week.

I book an appointment, take time off work to go and I end up waiting for an hour past my appointment to see the guy for 10min. Then I ask another question and get hit with the, you gotta book another appointment for that one.

Last time I went, they didn't tell me my doc wasn't there and I had to see someone else who worked at the clinic. I really had my doubts they were even a trained doctor.

This is a Ranchlands Medical center. The place I was placed at with the "find a doctor service".

Call Alberta Health Link, tell them you need a Family doctor and they will get you set up within a month or two.

If you can... find a south african doctor. 9 times out of 10 they are better physicians and more personable.

This is the quickest and most efficient way to find a family doctor in and around Calgary.

You should have no difficulty locating a family doctor and scheduling your initial "meet and greet" within a few days/weeks.
