It's for sure not too late. I've put down sod in October just prior to snow and it's fine. It just might not fully root until next year.

Cool thanks for the info. I planned on doing the sodding this year, but wife told me that it may be too late so I decided to check.

yes you can go into october without issues. we did some sod last year late and its fine. grass is very resilient and hardy. even if you forget to water it every day after, it might die but comes back

House across the street did their sod when it was super hot out and I didn't really notice them watering it at all and it was turning really yellow with only a few green spots. Then we got all the rain like last week and its all green again now.

I would recommend Manderley for your sod purchase - I did my sod 3 weeks ago and it couldn't look any better! It was by far the greenest sod I have seen delivered in my new neighbourhood. (it helps if you order for delivery at like 8 am when everything is fresh)

They have a drought-resistant variety as well which is their standard offering for $0.41 / sq. ft that you only need to water once or twice a month. That should root within 2 weeks if you water every day for 7 days.

Manderley is great, be warned though, they actually give you lots of soil with the sod, so they're quite a bit heavier than the competition's (Eagle Lake shit sod that everybody uses).

I was thinking of picking some up at the Garden center right by Fish Creek station there, or at home depot. What size do the pieces usually come in? I want something close to my area and only need to fill about 24 feet x 2 feet

rolls are usually 5ft x 2 ft, so looks like you need about 5 rolls with a little bit of cutting. easy peasy

Excellent. Thanks for all the help, might hammer this out tonight and get her done. Have nearly 800 litres of rain water collected just for this purpose :D

Pulled all the rocks yesterday and put sod today. It's a little lower than the rest of the grass but hopefully will level out after some power raking I plan on doing on the rest of the grass.
