Hey Everyone,
I will be in the market soon for a new car and I was wondering if I could get some unbiased opinions on some of these cars. Main issues are reliability, repair costs and a well rounded car. I would also like to purchase a warranty whether it is after market or from the dealer. Also, is it possible to buy aftermarket warranties if the car is not from a dealer?

The cars:

1998-1999 A4: 2.8L and 5 Speed ONLY (No used turbos)
1998-1999 BMW 328 IS: 5 Speed
2001 3.2 Cl Type S: Auto
2001 3.2 TL Type S: Auto
2002 Maxima: 6 Speed
2001-2002 RSX Type S: 6 Speed
LExus SC400

Or any other cars you can add to this list in the same category.

Thanks!:)

Check out this Audi for sale here on Beyond. I can vouch for the condition of the car, it is MINT. You drive a very nice and rare Acura and this car will not disappoint you. It is very luxurious but still performs nicely. Check it out: http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35755

Sorry no opinion to contribute except that I'd eliminate the FWD vehicles.

Euro = pimp but cost $$$ to fix

TL/CL is good. Styling is a bit out and beware of tranny issues.

Maixma is a good choice if you can stand the styling

RSX should be cheap this year with a new possible 220HP version within months.

SC400 = Car for cougars.

I know..ahhhhhhhh:dunno:

After doing some searching on the web, I am leaning more towards the RSX side....

From what I am reading on the web about the Audis and Beemers, I am not very enthusiastic about owning one.

The Cl or Tl would be nice, but I am iffy about the tranny issues....

And I think the Sc400 is defenitaly cougar territory. :poosie:

So is the lack of tourque in the RSX going to make me wish I owned a GTP or something?

Anyone?

Thanks for the input so far. :)

I'm leaning towards the TL - Good power and familiar territory for you.

Don't really know why you have the RSX on there, doesn't seem to fit right.

Another good choice I think is the Audi 2.8. Test drive the TL-S and 2.8 and see which one you like better.

I test drove a RSX-S and wasn't very impressed. The sales guy let me kick the shit out of it too, burnouts, drifts, e-brake turns, donuts, everything! It was a fun drive, but the car didn't make me leave wanting to do anything to get one. I was happier with my lude. The car felt underpowered, but that's just my opinion. I think it would be a great car if you HAD to go brand new, but if you're open to buying used, you have better options. PLus it sounds like you want something more luxurious.

I'm gonna be a bit biased here but when I bought my ride I went through the same process and came out with the TL-S it was the best choice IMO. Now its time for an upgrade and its for sale 2002. Let me know if your interested.

I don't See the RSX as a Better Car than a 6 Speed Legend.
The Only thing i Like on the RSX is the Interior.I Would Say Go with a Audi tt..

Thanks guys.

The one thinging seriously stopping me from the TL-S/CL-S is the transmission issues....however, from what I have read, the RSX has some issues as well with second gear.

The german cars are seriously scaring me away on the maintenance side of things.

Audi TT is way out of my price range...:D

What's your price range? I see you've got the RSX Type S in your considerations so you'd consider a 2-door? How about a used G35 Coupe? :bigpimp: Or a Lexus IS300?

Well it's Not Far off a RSX..I have Seen Low Kms RSX's For 28+ and i Have See 1999 Audi TT For Like 31 Ish.It Was Just a Tought. Why Are you looking For a Change?

I would defenitaly consider a 2 door....and a G35 would be awesome....but just a bit pricey ;). Probably $24K would be my absolute tops....depending on the car, condition, etc.

The TT would be nice but I dont really think it is too practical....2 seater etc. I think it is just time for a change.....no real reason. I love my car to death and it is going to be sooooo hard to see it go.

RSX-S is a great daily driver at an affordable cost. You can get used Type-S for around $25K, I don't think there is a better car at that price.

I love the sc400, isn't it based of the Supra chassis?

If you plan on doing any modding go with the Lexus, generally good reliability etc... Great looking car as well, and rare compared to the other ones you mentioned.

I love the E36 as well...

UPDATE:

I test drove the RSX Type S today up at 21st Century Auto....There was a silver one there with 37 000 km on it. It was a lease car, local, serviced at silverhill acura.

My overall impression was that it was like a little go kart.....small, agile, fairly quick (170 on Barlow Trail by the Airport).....kinda of all around. Maybe not as big as the legend....more trunk room would be nice.

I am now thinking of checking out the CL....They are pretty cheap out East and my Dad lives out there so I would be able to use him as my eyes and ears...

But the RSX was not a bad car.....I probably would have bought it if it wernt for the color...I would rather have the blue, black or red....

I am not sure if the Sc400 is based on the Supra Chassis....but it is defenitaly a bullet proof car....they go forever....Very nice and luxurious.
