Has anyone tired this or have better options

we have a fire place in are bedroom and want to be able to turn it off or have it on a timer at night with out getting out of bed

Not very good reviews from the purchasers on FS .... probably other products that are better.

I've tried some wemo stuff. The problem with wemo is its based on your wifi network. If your wifi ever goes down or you have a power outage often the wemo loses connection and you will have to go through the setup again which is a hassle.

If you want something more reliable I would go with something like this:

If you want something 'smarter' I would go with something like smartthings, I also noticed homedepot has a new product called wink which looks interesting. I'm also keeping my eye on ninja sphere.

as my switch for my fireplace is hardwired the homedepot one is a wall outlet plug system

Problem with that is the fireplace will be turning on and off non stop while he's going at it.
