Has anyone else noticed the in post ads always auto popup in Chrome on mobile devices. Drives me crazy every time I try to reframe a thread I have to wait for those dumb ads to dissappear again.

Can you provide a screenshot? The ads are formatted correctly on Chrome iOS here on my iPhone.

The pop up comes back every time I scroll.

I get the same thing on mobile Safari. Every time I scroll down it reappears as well.

I'm on a MacBookPro with Safari 7.0.6, no issues at all. On my iPhone with Safari, no issues at all.

Still happening on my phone today..

I am also getting this on my phone in chrome

It's weird. I'm not getting any ads on this thread in Chrome or Safari on my iPhone.

I'm not sure why but currently on my phone the two hyperlink looking ads aren't doing this, but an hour earlier in another thread it was.. I'm really not sure what to make of this. But on Android the links sometimes auto click for some reason and it takes me into the play store trying to get me to install some app.

rage2
09-07-2014, 08:04 PM
Oh these are from the text links? They should never pop up on mobile, the hover is triggered on mouse over, and since there's no mouse...

On my iPhone and iPad all I can do is click on em.

Unknown303
09-07-2014, 09:03 PM
Yeah the text links are auto popping up.

rage2
09-07-2014, 09:24 PM
Does this do it on all browsers?

Unknown303

Only noticing it in Chrome on my S5.

I just recorded this clip..

Can Android phones get ad viruses? I was wrong about the mouse over, those links don't even pop up on my desktop. And they click to amazon.ca not Poshmark app or whatever.

edit - guess it's possible. This looks to be the same, or similar problem:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/android-security-talk/317798-possible-virus-play-store-opens-randomly-specific-games-apps-2.html

Time to buy an iPhone bro. ;)

edit2 - or get rid of music paradise pro and the whether channel, those seems to be the culprit for the pup on your phone.

'the whether channel' is this app similar to a 'jump to conclusions mat'?

haha I just copy and pasted it from that thread. :)

Well went on a huge app purge and they still show up. With Java on I get popup and with Java off I don't get any.

rage2
09-08-2014, 03:17 PM
Well none of the ads we host use Java, so it's definitely something installed on your phone.

Unknown303

Yeah just sorting it out now is rather retarded.

Get the same thing on an S3 but only in Chrome - native browser doesn't do it and I don't have any useless crud installed on my S3.

Appears that it's probably an app that's been rewritten - link (http://forums.androidcentral.com/android-security-talk/317798-possible-virus-play-store-opens-randomly-specific-games-apps-2.html) to discussion on problem. Problem will be to find the specific app - I've only installed 39 apps and most of those should be from very trusted sources.

Unknown303
09-08-2014, 04:41 PM
Yeah Raj posted the link to that. . Still haven't found the app..

Of note, the linked text which will popup this box always is underlined with 2 green lines in my chrome browser and the box only appears if you're scrolling the screen. Once the screen is stationary for 3 seconds, the popup ad disappears.

This would be it - just got to figure out how to fix on a phone, link (http://malwaretips.com/blogs/green-double-underlined-ads-removal/).

What is odd is that I'm only seeing this green double underlined ad stuff only on beyond.ca and only in this specific thread. Key words that are being highlighted or 'iPad', 'iPhone' 'phone', phones', 'Poshmark app' and 'app' but not every instance of those words because some of them appear multiple times in this thread. Popup ads only appear if scrolling up, don't show up if scrolling down.

Nope, appears in the 'FS: 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit 2.5L K+Hatchback' thread as well. Also shows up in beyond articles off of main page - don't see on any other web site though. cnn.com is clean, tsn.ca is clean, Calgary Skyscraper forum is clean, nascar.com is clean, my own company's web site is clean as well as two sites I maintain for a couple of non-profits.

The individual articles on the beyond car blogs, the video page and the individual forum threads all pop up stuff. Even the base www.beyond.ca web site is popping up these things - what's stranger is the base gallery page doesn't pop anything up,it's the only place I've found that doesn't pop anything up. Individual galleries pop stuff up but the base gallery page is fine.

Get the double underline green ads on chrome on a windows 8 box as well as single underline green ads on an iPad2 (Safari) - pic below is from Win8 box. Not going to chase this any more because it's not that much of a bother - just appears that it's only beyond where this is happening for me.

Yea, I have those too, but they only pop up on mouseover. These are legit ads that's hosted by us.

It's bizarre for 2 reasons, Unknown303 seems to get more of those than us (my first one is in speedog's post), and his mobile device has no mouse, so it should never pop up. In either case, these are automotive targeted advertising, and not mobile apps for Poshmark. I still think he has something that's taking over his ads.

Yeah I definitely have something going on. Just haven't been able to identify yet. I've un installed virtually every app I've installed and still haven't purged it.

People bitch about the iPhone being a closed system. This issue is what happens when you have an open system. haha.

Not really an android issue as much as a chrome issue with the newest update they pushed to android devices.

Oh, please say it isn't so - perish the thought that a closed system could be affected by this.

I get this on my Nexus 5 on Chrome as well. It really ruins the browsing experience as I can't read anything beneath the popup. Only happens on Beyond.

Confirmed see it on my iPhone now as well. Looks like that ad provider is doing it on a platform by platform basis.

Will contact the ad provider and see what's going on. Sorry for making you guys uninstall everything, I don't have an Android to test on.

should ban the ad people

Unknown303

Seems like the ad people always make some sneaky change to push more ads. What's funny is the ad they keep trying to get me to install isn't available in this country apparently.

I'm still getting pop ups for game apps. "League of war", "knights and dragons dark kingdom" etc. see it mostly on the front page but it'll pop up elsewhere as well. Been like this for weeks. This is on iPhone 5s btw

Can you try turning off wifi and refreshing that page to see if it's gone?

I'm wondering if it's a caching issue somewhere. That ad has been completely disabled on our end and I can't duplicate it on my iPhone or ipad.

Thanks.

Tried turning off wifi and refreshing as you suggested, still see the pop ups. While on wifi at both home and work I get them as well. Perhaps my phone has the plague
