Hey guys I am sorry for starting yet another tires thread but I am looking into winter tire options for the car and I was wondering what people's opinion is on RFT for winter tires.

I would never buy them as summers as I feel the performance and cost penalty is to high not to mention ride comfort but what about for winter?

One consideration is my car does not have a spare and consequences of being stranded are more severe in the winter time.

Basically I am debating going between an OEM package (RFT) or getting aftermarket rims and picking the tires.

OEM recommendation is Continental Winter Contact TS830P SSR.

Go aftermarket rims with nokian hakkapeliitta's.

Your BMW will thank you.

Hak R2's are definitely on my shortlist along with 17x7 BBS SR's. Availability of the SR's in a concern.

I am very much an OEM guy though so I am concerned that I might not like the aftermarket rims.

still doesn't solve my stranded problem though which is why i am exploring and pricing all avenues.
