Good night to fire up the BBQ and try and catch some radiation.

Hmm that plane on the left with a flashing strobe is way more interesting hahaha.

That's a fantastic shot man!

I can often actually see it very vibrantly from my house in Coventry facing towards Airdrie. I have the AuroraWatch alert email set to a specficic ring-tone, often I'll wake up to the alert and just lay in bed watching through the window..

Here's my view :)

Your mountain shots are absolutely amazing! Something I hadn't really thought of but now seeing your photos would love to try to do. If the skies are clear tonight I may venture out further to watch!

I would! Even if you don't want to go all the way to the mountains, I would try Bragg Creek or north of Cochrane, maybe by Waiprous area? Get some interesting foreground :)

Despite the name northern lights, I seem to have the best succes with stuff coming from the north-east direction around Calgary.

Heading out to Canmore tonight.

Hopefully I can catch a glimpse. I've only witnessed them once when I was about 10 while I was up in the Queen Charlotte Islands.

If you're heading out that far from Calgary, I'd throw out the idea to go a bit further to Lake Minnawanka (sp). If it's clear and strong, you'll get some incredible reflections off the water if you cross the bridge coming from the Banff side (or even on the bridge).
