View Full Version : Slow Leak from Rim

Hi -

I have a set of stock rims for my 2004 Audi A4; we had a slow leak all of last winter that I was told is coming from the tire bead / seating surface, possibly due to corrosion.

I'm not looking to have the rims fully refinished for winter use, but wanted to know if a typical tire shop should be able to clean up the surface and get a good seal for new winter tires, or am I looking at a bigger job / replacement rims?

I know the answer is "it depends", but just looking for a sense of what should be possible short of machining.

Thanks,
Bryan

easy, any tire shop can pull the tire off and clean the corrosion off the bead no problem. If you're really concerned, ask them to coat the bead seat with bead sealer. Shouldn't take longer than 10 mins to do.

after any type of rim job there is always the possibility of leakage
