What do you guys munch on sitting at a desk all day?

I ran downstairs to buy microwave popcorn. And then I got the genius idea of adding hot chocolate powder into it. Figured somebody here would appreciate this spec of genius I'm sharing.

I subscribe to Nature Box to avoid eating unhealthy crap. They basically send you a box of goodies once a month for less than $20. At the moment, they are only Beta testing for Canada, so the snacks are fixed, but you'll soon be able to pick and choose what you'd like in your Nature Box every month.

I saw NatureBox on an Anna Akana video but I can't find the promo link :(

I don't snack or I'd be fat. Snaking to me is like trying to moderate a cocaine addiction. Better to just not do it

If it's that bad I just grab a couple soda crackers from the kitchen down the hall.

Sometimes they're not even salted.

I was imagining that would be super expensive but $25 us for 5 full size snacks is not that bad when you would expected to pay at least that for store brand stuff. Might be worth trying as I have been looking for some healthier snacks to snack on at work.

Microwave popcorn should be banned from offices for two reasons.

- Stinks up the entire office with chemical butter smell

- Every other bag gets burned by careless employees which makes the office smell even worse

I don't snack. Unless some lunch meeting has extra food left over in the kitchen. In that case, I eat whatever it is. :)

There are some insanely unhealthy people on here! ahah

I personally rock carrots, snap peas, cucumber, unsalted roasted almonds, brazil nuts, and a couple pieces of fruit.
Drink usually green tea instead of coffee and 2+ L of water at the office.

possibly, but then I don't cook with sodium at home, at all. I don't even salt the water if I am boiling pasta. And I am only eating those if I get hungry at work.

I wonder how it stacks up in $/g vs. the health food store snacks. I've only ever gone with the missus twice to one of those places and my jaw nearly hit the floor when I saw the prices on some of their snacks.

Assuming like $5 a bag though, if you go to like walmart or wherever they have those prebagged snacks now, they are also pretty expensive, especially for things other than like salted peanuts

The issue is the size of the bags that you get.

Go to Costco, get the unsalted almonds, unsalted cashews, dried blueberries and add whatever else you want and mix it up. Done and probably for a lot cheaper.
Although I have noticed almond prices are through the roof. Cashew prices have been high for a number of years.
I heard a bad season for Almond crops so... I hope prices go down.

I think the price is completely justified with the Nature Box. You're not just getting run of the mill snacks with shit ingredients, it's all healthy alternatives. It will be even better once the Canadian site allows you to pick your snacks (sriracha cashews  )

The amount of food you get is totally worth the price per month. I bought it for the sole purpose of having snacks for work to avoid eating shit, and I'm definitely satisfied with the food and cost. Just my two cents.

The bags are 4-5 ounces depending on what is inside the bag. Tha equates to a couple snacks for me.

-Unsalted almonds
-Celery sticks
-Cut up cucumber
-Carrots (not small ones that sit in bleach before being packaged)
-Pumpkin seeds
-Broccoli or coliflower
-Fiber one 90 cal bar (not that filling)
-lightly salted popcorn
-grapes
-trail mix (no smarties)

Lol those are all pretty healthy & no guilt snacks that you can pretty much eat all the time and not turn into a lard-ass.

BlueHaloGirl

Snapea Crisps from Costco
Granola bars
Apples
cheese slices ( I can get toast from the kitchen in the hotel and make toast)

If I'm really hungry I can go and order an entire breakfast from the restaurant and write it off. I rarely do this and if I do I will have a bowl of soup for lunch.
Sometimes I'll get them to fry me an egg and make a b-fast sandwich...mmmmmbacon!! Or just a piece of bacon on my travels through the kitchen.

We also have chocolate bar day the 15th of every month so that's usually my afternoon snack.

If you use the code word "ROGAN", you get $10 off or something like that. I got my first box for $14 and change.

IMO, compared to the organic/gluten-free/non-GMO section of the grocery store, the price for a box of snacks isn't that bad. I actually enjoy what they gave me. But I can't wait until you get to choose your own stuff.

I think it's very inconsiderate when someone in the office makes popcorn, that shit stinks. It'd be like someone bringing in fish or curry and frying that disgusting stuff up.

If I'm going to snack on anything I'd make it dry fruit, lots of iron which is what was leading to me being very tired at work, an iron deficiency. I found once I got more iron I wasn't tired at work any more.

You're doing it wrong.

Us EI folk dip Parle-G in our chai (just like you would dip an oreo cookie). It's an art form in its own. Have to dip it for just the right amount of time....too long and the biscuit will break and fall into your tea...too short and its still too crunchy.

Try it out and report back.

I did not know this so I looked it up, and it sounds like all baby carrots (even organic ones) get a chlorine bath. Same with "pre washed" leafy green packages.

The manufacturers were claiming it was the same amount of chlorine as found in tap water but who knows :nut:

I guess I'll be switching back to normal carrots - I would always buy the little bags of organic baby carrots to snack on.

I keep packages of instant oatmeal in my desk. I just put them in a coffee mug and use the hot water setting on our beverage machine. I usually have 2 packages a day (1 for breakfast and 1 as a snack).

After the current box I have runs out, I'm buying a bag of quick oats and a small bag of brown sugar to keep at my desk.
