View Full Version : 2015 Models that have caught your attention

So with each new model year there always seems to be a handful of standouts that have made big jumps forward. Things like 2011 F150 with the Ecoboost as an example. Ground breaking, game changing stuff. Maybe a new model all together like the Hellcat Challenger as an example. What do the fine people of Beyond see as the stars of the 2015 line up?

For me it's definitely

Macan (S, the turbo is dumb)

S3

Golf R ( if it actually comes in 2015)

M3 (Something missing from the M4 that i think will be remedied in the future)

Mustang

F-150 (so long as the aluminum holds up to hail)

E63 AMG-S ( Sat in my buddies, )

AMG GT ( is it 2015?)

Jaguar XE
Volvo XC90
Hellcat Challenger for sure

The first two need to be a hit for those companies, so definitely keeping my eye on them.

Some of the cars on your list are 2014's, not new/refreshed 2015s.

I'm excited for the GLA45, but that's pretty obvious.

S3 for me, though the prolonged wait has killed off a lot of the excitement.

GLA45

Has the V60 landed here yet? I saw a blue one the other day, don't know how to tell if it's the Polestar.

Macan, I like.

I'd like to see what the Lexus RC and RC-F chassis look like in person, the NX is ugly as fk but i'm interested moreso in what the reviewers think of the 2.0L Turbo engine, maybe that will make its way into the IS platform?

The RC-F at least is the closest thing anyone's going to get to a new high-power Toyota RWD sports car anytime soon.

I'm not a fan of the NX either, but my friends that own Lexus are all talking about how great it is.

I don't know if the 2015 Sierra is worthy of the list as it's not significantly different than the 2014, assuming you're talking 1500 series. If you're talking HD then that's all new.

Some of the models people are listing (like Macan) aren't big volume sellers so I don't think they create a shift in the market. The all aluminum F150 would be on my list but I'm a truck guy. Not that I would consider buying a Ford, but I have to acknowledge that it's something that didn't exist in the market place before, kind of like Dodge's 1500 diesels for 2014.

^imo it's like Lexus' chance to try out their version of an RDX, minus the AWD for the turbo and an optional hybrid engine. In the end it's a small hope Toyota is willing to try out forced induction in North America once again.

Is the M2 coming out in 2015? or 2016? I guess it hasn't caught my attention that much.

M2 is most likely going to be MY2016, based on how little info/spy shots have been seen.

I think the Golf R will be a late 2015 model showing up in the Spring.

It is interesting as it's just another new competitor in that small luxury CUV class. Personally if we don't get wagons, this is the next best thing, so it's nice to see more competition. Only thing is BMW and MB seem to be the only ones bringing out performance versions of the cars to NA. I have a feeling though if the GLA 45 does well here, we'll see X1 M's and SQ3's as well. I would add an NX F-sport, but I don't think Lexus actually bumps a ton of extra performance in F-Sport's.

I still don't know how well the GLA45 will do here. The pre launch orders for the CLA45 was much stronger based on what LS has been telling me. That might change when people see the GLA45 though.

Another beyonder checked out the GLA45 this week and was really impressed at how it looks in person. Way better than what photos portray it to be.

Supposed to arrive in the fall of 2015, so likely will be a 2016 model.

When did that change? I swear I saw a VW letter to dealers saying Spring of 2015. Or was that US?

Boostn
09-18-2014, 11:23 AM
From what I've read for Canada, it's the GTI PP for Q1 2015, then the Golf R for Q3 as a 2016. As you mentioned, apparently the US will be getting it earlier but still speculation at this point. I'm looking forward to its arrival as well.

I'm interested to see how the Jeep Renegade checks out. It's going to take a lot of heat for not being a stereotypical Jeep but I'm hoping it will turn out to be a reasonably-priced 4WD with good gas mileage and road manners.

So this has turned into "2016 models that you're waiting for" thread.

The M235 looks good. It's a safe bet for BMW for sure. Nothing staggering.

The Lexus RC-F looks impressive. Hopefully good sales so Toyota continues on the sportscar path.

I"m liking the new genesis too but like all of their other models, probably end up looking outdated in about 2 years.. :(

Hate to say it but not a fan of the Q5/Q5/A3 models on the road, nor the exterior of some of the newer mercedes.

BMW 2/3/4 series lookin good

Q3 is like a mini Q5 but with an interior from 2001 . It's still on the old platform, waiting to move to MQB like S3.

I hadn't heard much of anything about the Renegade so I googled it, looks like a refreshed Jeep Liberty from the front and a Kia Soul from the back. I'm not saying that's terrible, just not my cup of tea. If the price is low I can see a lot of this hitting the road. The Liberty did pretty well for Jeep.

Will there be a GNX also? The previous one from the 80's was a limited edition run and super rare if I recall correctly.

2015
Chev Colorado (diesel at last in a mid sized truck)
Ford F-150
Alfa Romeo 4C (does Calgary get one of the four dealerships?)
Jeep Renegade (hope it is a duplicate of the concept version)

2016
Mustang Shelby GT350
MB GT AMG
Mazda Miata MX-5
Tesla Model X (a gullwing sedan for us mortals)

Yeah they were very very sought after cars, the last of the RWD cars, before Buick abandoned the platform in lieu for a FWD set up. They wanted to release a new GN in the FWd package back then, but was impossible since it was way too much power for a mere FWD set up.

So I'm quite happy we finally get this in the AWD platform. Just curious as to the price though...

It's actually even smaller than the Liberty (that was replaced by the Cherokee), it's supposed to compete in the really-compact-SUV segment. Lots of competition there but Jeep is hoping that having a better 4WD system than anything in the class and the Jeep badge will move metal.

I'd really love a ford f150 but it will have to prove it self over the next year or so for me to buy one. Otherwise I'll stay with my ram which has bad absolutely zero problem. I saw my first a3/s3 today which I thought may be my next car but I think they look to small for me. I thought they were the same size as my b7 rs4 but they look smaller. Not sure which direction to go next with my next vehicle. Might be best to idle for a couple year and wait for technology and fuel milage to step up another level.
