Ha, I remember that too. I think it was Jetstar that did that and they got a fine for that too. I think the show happened while it is in flight. Freakin' awesome man.

Also, one person mentioned it was plagiarized? DUN DUN DUNNNN.

I wonder how much it would be to fly on a Concorde in today dollars. Would you rather have more room for a longer flight or shorter flight with less room? Assuming that the interior of the Concorde will be updated of course.

Shorter flight>more room all the time.

Flying JFK to LHR on the Concorde is one thing that I regret not doing before the fleet was retired. Hopefully one day supersonic flights will be available again.

When I checked back in the early 2000's, it was a little over $10k one way. I think the USD exchange rate was like 1.5:1 so it's hard to figure out how much it really costs in today's dollars.

Yeah, I'll choose that for the cool factor for sure. One of the pilots said that all the other flights below appear to be moving backward lol.

Let's say, hypothetically, you did it in 2002 and 'a little over $10k one way' is $22k USD round-trip

Yearly average exchange rate was 1 USD=1.578144 CAD (fxtop.com) so it'll be, $34,719.17CAD in 2002.

http://www.bankofcanada.ca/rates/related/inflation-calculator/

~$35k CAD in 2002 is $43,252.72CAD in 2014.

Same, I had the additional incentive as an Air Canada employee at the time and thus a member of Star Alliance (like BA) so it would have been a ~2000$ one way trip supersonic (+ subsonic return)....
however, money was tighter back then. :(

Dayuum,

Eithad had $20k seats and it's sold out!

http://www.flyertalk.com/story/first-10-flights-of-etihads-multi-room-luxury-suites-completely-sold-out.html

The Residence suites were announced by the carrier in May to a world of fanfare. Described as the industry’s first multi-room cabin, The Residence features a living space, double bedroom and private shower. In addition, all in-suite service is handled by a butler trained at London’s elite Savoy Butler Academy.

I guess there's no point in looking back, since it was definitely out of my price range back then. $43k though is doable today.

What? No Way, you don't travel in first class because it improves the utility (you get to your destination at the same time as the dog in the cargo!), you do it because of the amazing experience.

Two years back I flew Thai BKK to LHR in First, and for whatever reason they didn't upgrade anyone in business to first, so me and my sister had the entire (18 seat) cabin to ourselves. That was pretty cool.

First class is pretty nice but it doesn't beat a real bed. I'd rather get to my destination quicker! :burnout:

Plus, airline food doesn't taste the same because elevation and the recycled air affects your taste!

I was speaking in relation to the Concorde. First class is pretty nice but it doesn't beat a real bed. I'd rather get to my destination quicker! :burnout:

But if it's just a Dreamliner, then yes, experience FTW.

$23k actually seems 'reasonable' for what you get at that price.

Flying business class to Europe on Air Canada is around $10k-$12k right now. These are for those "space pod" seats that can recline all the way into beds.

Those AC pods in the old Boeing's are POS. Surprisingly, I like the Delta fleet.

I want to try Cathay's pods:

With all of AC's bullshit program changes I'm thinking about switching to KrisFlyer.

That flight would be around 93,500 KrisFlyer miles + ~$400 which is pretty sweet.

I fly for free on Air Canada, so I could give a damn whether I'm in coach or in the cargo hold.

Twice been upgrade to first, nice, but nothing compared to what a real carrier can offer.

How do you fly for free?

My comment was more in relation to Air Canada's FFP than Air Canada's flight service. You can still earn points from AC flights on KrisFlyer.

Ya. I mean the service is really nice, awesome selection of food for long flights. That shit is all good if someone else is paying for it lol. But coming from your own wallet its hard (for me) to justify the 300%-500% premium over economy or premium-economy seats if you're able to fall asleep for a few hours without full recline into a bed. There are more than enough ballers out there to fill those seats though.

I actually sleep pretty well in economy seats, assuming there's not some huge fat dude beside me. If I get semi-baller, I'll just buy two economy seats, and use the one beside me as a buffer from the peasants.
