What's Alcantara like for seats/steering wheels?

From what I understand, it's a synthetic suede, right? Is it grippy? Feels nice? Does it wear out like regular suede?

alcantra is very good product for the $$ you spend, it lasts long, looks good and grips your ass to the seat.

The only problem is with the lighter colored alacantra(ex red), it wrinkles after time and an be a PITA to remove the wrinkles. Otherwise its great, i love my alacantra seats:thumbsup:

You can wrap anything with the material. Alcantara is also used to line/wrap the dash on rally cars to eliminate glare.

I love Alcantara it's such a beautiful material... heres an example of it used on Project X which was a Jetta coupe... it's on the seats, door panels, dash, steering wheel, pillars, handbrake boot, and shift boot... Really nice IMHO.

for the center sections of seats and a steering wheel i wouldn't think more than 3 meters would be needed

Seanith

yeah you won't need a ton of it. a meter should be enough to do my armrest and door arm rests..

Are you guys sure those seats tat are $300-$500 a set are real Alcantra?? When I was looking for seats last summer they were over $600 each. Professional upholsters in Calgary wanted $400-$500 just for the material to recover my Recaros. :dunno:
