What should I be looking to pay for a hot water tank replacement on short notice?

Pretty sure its a standard 40 or 50L in a newer build (6 years old).

I had my 40 gal done for about $800. It blew up overnight, called the plumber in the morning, it was replaced by noon including taking the old one away.

Same thing for me. I used Pete the Plumber. Ya, his commercials suck but the service was excellent.

6 years and it blew already??
Mine was 25 years old when I finally had to replace it just a couple years ago. Do they make them out of cardboard now? ?
And you're sure it's shot eh?

They don't make them to last that long anymore. You're on borrowed time after 8 for a good one, and even less if you don't purge the bottom regularly.

Had a 6 year warrantee that is up Feb 2015 so it's actually being replaced under warrantee. Still kinda chaps my ass because I have to pay labour costs.

Yea I'll have an update shortly on potentially a local plumbing company that just screwed me over.... waiting to hear back from them before I post details.

Found the model that got replaced and its an expensive unit

Trying to confirm with Wolsey what the warrantee replacement cost in Canada would be and they're saying nearly $1600!

New tank lifespans are warranty + 1 week, maintenance or not. When I replaced mine last year I marked it on my calendar when it's going to leak again.

I wonder if North tank life is shorter than south tank life due to the harder water.

Thats full list price, really if you are dealing with someone thats fair on their markups, it shouldn't be anymore than 1300-1400 + install.

So its actually $1900 for me to walk in and buy the unit.

Can anyone find out how much a plumber can purchase the unit at cost for? Getting the run around on a warrantee refund.

That class of tank is between 750-850 wholesale. All brands are pretty close in terms of fitment so you could price a Rheem Ruud and it should be cheaper.
