But my question is - why? do SC430 owners have a lot of cassettes from the 80s ?

Are SC430 maybe average above 60 years old or so?

2010 is a long way from 1989 , a lot of cars had CD players shortly after.

The Sprinters I had for service trucks both came with cassette players. I had to hit garage sales to find music for the big road trips across the prairies.... Then I got an add on satellite radio and stuffed the tape case under the seat... But still in 2010...:nut:

Above 50, that's for sure.

My '03 Audi also had a cassette deck. After trying 1/2 dozen fm transmitters to listen to my phone through the stereo, I finally realized how much easier it is to use an old cassette to 3.5mm jack converter. Worked better than a transmitter.

My g35 had a cassette player and it was awesome for using the tape adapter with my ipod
It is almost as good as my acura which has usb but the worstttttttttttt music interface in the world for the ipod

Wasn't this car voted the worst car ever made by top gear? I've driven one...it was awful. Zero thought or emotion put into it. It was the epitome of "an appliance on wheels". Not surprised in the least that it only occurred to them now to remove the tape player.

Mercedes/McLaren was the last holdout with the 2010 SLR, and 2011 SLR McLaren edition. All SLRs came with a tape deck, with an option for a cd changer. This was because the SLR was designed long ago and used stereo and other interior equipment from the w202 era c class dating back to 1994 haha.

And because of David Hasselhoffs prolific recording career in the cassette era.

You really do need to hear it in the type II chrome bias version to appreciate it.

Geez. And I thought it was bad that my mom's 05 Echo only came with a cassette (base model.)

On the other hand, there was something kinda neat about picking up random 80's rap and metal tapes from value village. Discovered a few bands that way.

no, no, no, no, no! I love the fact that my lexus has a tape player, it's the perfect iphone holder while I'm driving!!! thankfully mine also has the 6 disc cd changer, but no aux port lol.....plus finding tapes that are gold make it that much more awesome (found a George carlin tape at my grandma's from about 20 years ago lol)
