I may show depending how the evening goes. I'm trying to pull the 1jz out of my soarer this weekend but our Christmas party is fucking up my plans.

Almost everything is disconnected, a couple things left then gotta find a engine hoist. Really wish I had a garage for projects like this FML

Razor blade and peel away. Rub residue off with goo gone, or invisible glass

Shlade
11-22-2014, 01:15 PM
Just peals off. Nothing to it really maybe use some goo gone if you need to

And Christ don't use a razor blade.... Just use some dental floss on the badges and fish your way through it. The sticker should just he able to peal off

Anyone winter driving their FiST? Twice yesterday and once today I start the car and went to go inside only to find the car had stalled when I came back out. Today I even left the key fob in the cup holder and it did the same thing.

This is when cold starting after sitting all night. Doesn't seem to do it when it's warmed up at all.

xnvy
11-30-2014, 02:12 PM
Can't speak to the FiST or my Fiesta but I know that's an issue with the 500 Abarths as well due to the little turbo and valve action.

Mine is sealed away in my garage until things warm up, so no experience.

My guess is the intercooler is too large for our climate, how hard would it be wrap it up or block it off for the winter? You would also block off the radiator with some cardboard, I see most Ford trucks running around like that.

Don't see why it would be anything related to the intercooler/rad as that would just make it warm up slower. The car starts, idles and after ~ 30 seconds to a minute it stalled.

Maybe the alternator or something with the auto climate control kicks in and causes a higher engine load? I know the FR-S would dip and almost stall sometimes when the A/C kicked in until they reflashed it.

Could be. These cars use a MAP rather than a MAF so maybe its not calculating the airflow rate right or something.

I'm due for my first oil change in a week or two so I'll attempt to get them to look at it but assuming they won't be able to do a thing.

Also need to get my horn fixed, hasn't worked since day 1, found that out after some idiot almost lane changed into me and pushed me into the center meridian.

This sounds like BS to me

Plus my experience with new cars has been that the first oil change shouldn't be done until the mileage requirement is reached so that all of the factory detergents and additives have a chance to work through the new engine.

Actually if you read the owners manual its always X kms / 6 months. The oil degrades over time. Always a good idea to do a oil change after a car has been sitting for quite a while. Not sure how it works on a brand new car but all my other ones it was always do a oil change the first drive of the spring.

It's probably something simple with the horn but I bought a new car for the warranty so they can fix it. It's not stopping me from driving atm so it can wait.

I was checking out some posts on Bob Is The Oil Guy, sounds like most people change the oil in their cars/boats in the fall so they have fresh oil during the storage period, then run them without changing the oil in the spring. I am going to go with this, I don't believe that oil will degrade that quickly. Cars that arrive on the lot can sit there for 6 months or more, I somehow doubt they change the oil in them.

Yeah I agree. I did take a quick glance a couple times and didn't see anything that was obviously undone. I can hear the relay under the glove box fire when I push the horn. So its something between power, fuse, relay, horn, ground.

Unfortunately with a lack of garage I'm not gonna spend much time focusing on it in this weather

Got stuck 3 times today in Banff in the Fiesta. Even with the winters, ride height was too low for all the snow they had. Stalled twice trying to get out unfortunately. Does anyone else get the "low oil pressure" warning when stalling? I had it the first time but it immediately went away upon restarting the car. Never came back. Second time, no warning at all. My oil is at max level. Could something be wrong with some pressure sensor or something or is this just normal when you stall it.

Probably just related to it stalling as when the engine isn't turning there is no oil being pumped.

Anybody want to trade some standard FiST lugs for lock nuts? I just noticed the dealer put them on the car even though I scratched them off the options. I park indoors and they just get in my way, but if somebody is parking outdoors it might add another level of deterring thieves.

I will if you want, not really concerned about my tires getting stolen but if you want a normal set I'll swap.

I have a decent looking second non locking set with my winters anyways so probably wouldn't use them anyways.

Also I meant to try and find time to meet up with yeah this week but work went to shit. Basically just treading water to survive until I'm on holidays next weekend

FiST is going back to the dealer a second time to get fixed tomorrow. First my horn wasnt working, apparently it was just a blown fuse (which is interesting because a) I checked the fuses and b) fuses don't usually blow for no reason).

Now I started my car at lunch and the heater fan/blower won't kick in. Not only does this mean its cold as balls but I can't drive without fogging up the windshield unless I crack a window and further freeze.

Not impressed so far.

So the subsection should be re-named to 'Ford Performance Owners Club' or something.

You can do better than that. I paid less than $35 all in for 2015 ST3 with sunroof ($1200), Navigation ($800) as well as the new for 2015 optional 18" wheels and red brake calipers ($600). Only option I didn't get was the paint adder for the Tangerine Scream. I got all that for $34,500 with 0% financing for 36 months. We aren't talking about the darker colored wheel option. For 2015 it's a completely different wheel style option. It's a 5-spoke wheel with machined finish. I have dealer specifications for both years and don't see it as an available option for the 2014 model. 2015 also gets refreshed exterior and interior with heated steering wheel. Otherwise the only other changes are revised front shocks and steering tweaks.

We just dropped over $60k on home renovations and I was talking with Ryan about either a GTI with PP or Golf R but I figured I would use this car to pay our 2.5% HELOC with the Ford 0% financing for 36 months as I'm going to pay $1k monthly at no interest and drop the $36k cash or so I will sell the STI for on the HELOC dropping it by over a half leaving with less interest to pay. I don't like having money on the HELOC so rather than throw more debt into a car I figured I would just clean things up so I can get something nice in a couple of years.

ST owners officially are officially awesome (even though we all already knew this, right?). My proof: While driving on Deerfoot North on Sunday, happened to be passed by a Tangerine Scream FoST. Now, can't let my FiST be upstaged by it's big brother, so I pulled in behind and followed it out past Country Hills Blvd on Deerfoot until I got to my exit (Stoney). Blasted up the inside to get to the exit ramp, and the FoST zoomed up beside me. Looking over to give a friendly wave to a fellow ST owner, and noticed the driver AND passenger are waving like crazed lunatics! So, naturally, I did exactly the same. Made me laugh so hard.

To the owner of that Tangerine Scream FoST, you totally made my day!
