Fiesta or Focus - which is better?

Shlade
10-24-2014, 11:54 AM
Im obviously bias but focus ST. Just bigger, and larger motor and more power. Lots of aftermarket support. Though lots of it for the fiesta as well.

I love how both look. I'm just more partial to the focus it being a bigger car with more room and more power

Eric's just trolling. These cars have some balls. Civics don't lol

I came from a procharged V8 mustang to this. I'll take my focus any day it's just a total blast to drive all around. Handles great, awesome interior,
Comfy seats and good amount of pep to it

Regarding the go-kart comment, Sugarphreak, you're aware that -I- am technically an automotive journalist, right?

The 2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4 is the greatest car the world has ever known. QUOTE ME!

I don't believe you actually put stock into what an English-major says about cars, but trying to use them to defend your point is almost as lame.

ps: dont clump in the awd cars

Shlade
10-24-2014, 01:48 PM
Ya I guess it is haha... With more balls though!

Hey fwd awd don't matter the Evo and STI are boy racer cars 100% themselves. Look at all the younger guys driving those

Mibz
10-24-2014, 01:52 PM
GTI, I knew I was missing one. Yeah, my wife drives one of those.

Shlade
10-24-2014, 01:55 PM
The one crappy thing about GTI owners is they all drive slow... Except the women... They drive like there's a big sale at Michael Kors.

I've had younger guys in pretty much all the above cars try and race me except the GTI guys haha

Mibz
10-24-2014, 01:57 PM
You're not wrong.

All the guys slam them so they have to go slow for obstacles like pot holes and rodents.
All the women are just bad drivers.

These are facts. Remember, I'm a journalist, you can quote me.

In fact, the FiST and FoST will rotate better than the RWD FRS/BRZ.

Both of those statements are completely dependant on how you drive them.

There is no doubt in my mind that both the STs would stomp a BRZ on the track due to tires alone. If I had a gun to my head, I'd say the Focus ST is more tail happy than the BRZ on corner entry.

But these are legitimate opinions from somebody who's driven both cars, and they're not welcome in this thread.

It's H-Street now.

There are some huge rule changes for next year, so be sure to read the rules before doing any mods.

Edit: At present, the rules are:

Short shifters not allowed (only shift knob may be changed).

Wheels:
Same width as OEM and as installed it does not have an
offset more than ±¼” (±6.35mm) from OEM wheel for the car.

Wheel (rim) diameter may be increased or decreased 1” from the
OEM part.

Nope. Still got it. Just got annoyed at not having a car in winter so I blew all my money on a Fiesta :D

I lucked out. I got an epic deal on a Fiesta Ecoboost because nobody wants to buy them because they only come with the manual. And apparently nobody likes green. That said, no big purchases for the next 2 years :burnout:

^Thanks man!

The car is awesome. This break in period is annoying though. It says to shift earlier than the car indicates for the first 1,500 km except that car wants me to shift at 2,500 RPM and the car starts moving at ~1,300 RPM. I'm totally not used to it either considering I up shift in the Miata at 4,000 RPM. Despite the fact that I'm still adjusting to this car, I'm somehow getting 8L/100km. I had it down to 7.7L/100KM for a bit. 800+ km to a tank, it's so sweet! :D

Eff that, I drove my car as I intend to drive it from day 1 lol, when I'm stuck in traffic or commuting I'll shift around 2-2.5k though.

Commuting I average 6-6.5L/100kms, weekends that goes closer to 7.5

The gearing is super tall. It's never going to be competitive at autocross because of that. The car has lots of torque for it's displacement but it takes a while for the car to wake up. That said, it handles really nicely and is a ton of fun. I don't think I'll be autocrossing this car because I still have the Miata, if I didn't, I probably would. I might try it out for the Ice Cup that CSCC runs though. Depends how the winter driving school goes.

EDIT: I'd just like to add that this car sounds amazing. It's super quiet and you can only really hear it when you're alone in a parkade with the windows down but it sounds like half a 90's BMW. If you listen close enough you can hear the little recirculating valve or whatever let go of the boost. It sounds like a baby turbo. My friend described the sound as "adorable" when compared to her WRX.
