Anyone know what that middle thing is?

It connects from the tub to the left sink in my ensuite.

Yeah, mixing/tempering valve.

I take it your tub has two handles, one hot one cold?

edit; nvm see that in picture.

Thanks!

Is it a new thing to the building code and only specific to those tubs? I guess it applies to all two handle fixtures.

Another question:Those of you with hydronic infloor heating what do you set your temperatures at for the basement/garage?

I've seen them on showers and they're a great feature to have. Someone flushes the toilet while you're showering and you don't get burned or a shot of cold water. Worth the extra money for sure.

Hot water infloor heating, garage set to 10*c. If you're in the basement a lot, have it at normal room temps that you enjoy. Usually go to the bare basement floor space to dial in the best temps. Carpet buffers the heat down a little.
When you're burning your feet in your utility room, turn it down haha.

They've been code for decades now.

Basement = 20C
Bathroom floors = 26C
Garage = 15C (I'm cheap. There are those who set their garages to 25C)

Keeping the basement 20 makes the second floor 21 and the top floor 22. My upstairs furnace hardly kicks in and the middle floor furnace only in the morning for recovery.
