You'd think that a people that were subject to so much racism in the past would be quick to notice it amongst themselves in the present. Pretty disgusting either way.

Only white people can be racist. When someone else does it, it's called "protecting their heritage".

I'm pretty sure this happens on with other indian bands as well. I seem to recall a similar case from only a few years ago of an Alberta woman who lost her indian status because she married a white man. Had someting to do with the fact that your "status" is determined by your band, and that particular band had similar policies, which only applied to women. Thier men could marry white women with no issues.

It's pretty sad that such racism exists, but unfortunatley, the entire "indian" system of status and reserves and benefits is inherently racist. It's founded on racism.

If you guys have any European friends, you should ask them if they've welcomed foreigners to immigrate and live among their townships over the many decades.
The First Nations are of a small population in Canada, and that would make one outsider equal to something ridiculous as 500 people. Its only logical to allow VISA's, not local lands to outsiders.

To put this in another context, if one was the King of Sweden (with its rare light skinned and blond hair genetics) would you allow the king of England to setup many immigrants (from its colonial enclaves spanning all the continents [different characteristic whites, blacks, and asians]) to live in your country?

Its my understanding that the First Nations are a peoples that had crossed over the Russian and Mongolia ice bridges that had stretch over to the Americas.

Maybe somewhat closer cousins to Tajikistani's with their appearance.

(they speak Farsi over there, the same as Iranians... but with a much different accent. )

I'm a European. And yes, Europeans definitely allow it. Is it with welcoming outstretched arms? No. But it doesn't at all compare to this story from the legal perspective.

From the article, which IMO, sheds light on the real reason for the Law:

We’re not just useless sacs of DNA that are to be counted for federal transfer dollars,”

...

The Charter says... every Canadian is entitled to equal benefit of the law.
(unless you're racial makeup doesn't meet the pre-defined %)

If the reserve starts to dilute and interbreed with whiteys, they lose their 'set for life' winning lottery ticket of free money from the Canadian Gov't.

I'd say this has less to do with racism and more to do with sound financial decision making giving the duckedup socialist paradise we live in.

The charter says all are to be treated equal benefit of the law, but right in the law (Indian Act) it's defined what races of people get more benefits than other. We hve enshrined in law, a massive incentive for Natives to be racist for financial benefit.

If you incentivize bad behaviour, then bad behaviour is what you get. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Haha, deep down it doesn't matter who you are we all seem to have the same level of hate for one another taking our money. Sort of reminds me how in the US it is primarily the black community that bans more gay manage then the rest of the individual groups of races.

How "MANY" non-natives do you think are trying to marry and live with a first-nations spouse? Is this like an epidemic, with new immigrants flooding the reserves?

Lemme tell ya, after 12 years in a mixed race relationship, and a child from yet another mixed race relationship, it's white trash Tammy-Lynn types only from here on in. Daughter's mom has some MLK black panther issues big time (despite being 1/4 white herself lol) not dealing with anymore of that shit lol

Hahahah!! Yes!

But why should I struggle to find the words for how dehumanizing this focus is when Horn-Miller has already put it so well herself in a quote reported by the CBC? “We’re not just useless sacs of DNA that are to be counted for federal transfer dollars,” Horn-Miller said of the Mohawk nation. “We have to instil a sense in our people that you are a person, put on this earth to make it better.”
