Top this one:)

A guy about 90 admits to watching porn, and picked up Ukash.

I disinfected it, and about 10 days later, he got it again. My stupid sympathy took over, and I disinfected it again at no charge

Fast forward another couple of weeks to today. He just called me because he is now experiencing browser redirects and wants his money back.

In the most polite and professional way, I told him to pound sand.

BTW.

That lady from part 1?

Her cheque bounced and she doesn't return my calls.

No more sympathy. Period.

I would have done client education at the second issue - explicitly.

And I take Cheques all the time. Only have had 1 bounce in the last 3 years.

That's an absurd one to call somebody on. Many of our US counterpart words are more commonly used than UK spellings. My generation uses check way more than cheque, and I suspect 20 years from now, check will almost be used exclusively.

I go out of my way to ensure I spell words without any french connotations - centre is always center, cheque is always check, colour is always color. We don't live in Quebec...so why are we pretending we are semi-franco and spelling words as though that's our first language. Ridiculous.

Maybe in your circles, but I've never seen a Canadian use "check" in place of cheque. Also, in 20 years people won't even know wtf a cheque (or check) is

Cheque isn't from Quebec, it's from France and is the accepted spelling everywhere in the world except the US.

Centre and Colour aren't French, at least not French-Canadian, as the Brits use those spellings. Non U.S. <> French.

From your quoted Grammarist site:

There is no difference in meaning between center and centre. Center is the preferred spelling in American English, and centre is preferred in varieties of English from outside the U.S.

And this is all relevant to this thread in what way?
