So, what are you guys hoping to pick up this year?

http://blackfriday.redflagdeals.com/

As usual, the US has decent deals...Best Buy has a Samsung 55" 4K TV for $899.99. :O

Do camcorders usually go on sale on Black Friday?

Edit: Holy shit. Just read the Best Buy US flyer from the redflagdeal link. Those prices are insanely cheap.

For those of you that go to the US for Black Friday: Is it really total chaos like you see in the news? Is it a total pain in the ass shopping? I have days off during that time, a sister who lives in Vegas and flight benefits. Maybe it's worth a quick trip.

People die every year from Black Friday shopping sales in the US and it's pretty much what you see in the news.

They will step over a trampled body just to get their hands on another iPhone 6.

Canadian Black Friday is a joke. You can see how bad ours is by looking at the USA flyers, and that's also why Darwin claims a few shoppers every year. 9 times out of 10 the prices they advertise in Canada can be had at other times of the year, or on regular sales. They also show the "before" price as the highest ever MSRP from 1-2 years ago, that nobody ever paid, to calculate their "60% off" or whatever it may be.

There is the odd good deal, but true "door crashers" are almost nonexistent. Best thing to do is just shop online if there is anything you really want, and avoid the crowds & lineups. Exact same thing for Boxing Day. I usually pick up a few things every year, and pay the $5 shipping to avoid endless hours of traffic and lineups.

But boxing day has always been the canadian black friday. Its just the past 4-5 years that we started participating in canada and its been getting better every year.

And boxing day has been getting worse. I was looking for a TV last year on black friday, saw there were no real deals to be had so I figured fuckit, I'll buy on boxing day.

Then boxing day rolls around, and the deals were the same or worse than black friday :nut:

This has pretty much been the case every year I can recall to slightly varying degrees. The last TV I bought on a random day when I wanted one was a better deal than anything I saw on Black Friday/Boxing Day. We'll see about this year.

The biggest discounts are usually on unpopular items anyway, and not the desirable electronics that everyone is after (i.e. big TV's, DSLRs, etc.)

Even when a great deal does rarely surface, it's a rip off compared to the states  .

That's not really the case in all places. I go to Vegas every year with a group of friends for black Friday and its actually less busy than other times of the year. Thanksgiving is almost bigger for Americans than Christmas and most people go home for it subsequently until Saturday its pretty quiet. Only downside is there tends to be a lot of things closed that weekend.

Not really, nothing significant that I've ever seen. I think the best deal going is Target, who gives you in-store gift cards instead of discounts. On iPads I think they are $150, on phones they are way less. Same old story, the discount is so small it's not worth going out on a day like that.

 That was one of them. It's been $39 everywhere as long as I can recall, and they go so far as to have their "door crasher" banners and highlights for that particular item.

All their "savings" dollar amounts are WAY off too, but that is fairly normal. You can cut it by about 2/3 to see actual savings, if any.

I don't think they have a way of limiting what you can use it on through google play as the gift card should show up as just a payment credit in your payment options. I am like 85% sure.

Every Canadian Tire deal is exact same as their weekly flyers haha. If you want something at CT, wait maximum a month or so, and it'll be on heavy discount. That's not a negative thing though, they routinely have surprisingly good deals, but nothing out of the ordinary for Black Friday that I saw. Every other week is like Black Friday at CT :D

Before you guys buy the ultimate, let me warn you that it's buggy as fuck. It's unbearable at the cost of $249. The biggest problem is that the hub shits itself, and stops talking to the remote, where you have to go to the back of the rack, unplug and replug it back in to reboot. That fixes it 80% of the time. The other 20% requires a full reinstall on both. Which means when it does happens, it takes me 30 mins to turn on my TV.

I'm pissed that they discontinued the old ultimate with the mostly physical buttons and a small touch screen, it was WAY better.

kinda watching for a crazy price on a 32-42" LCD

If you're ok with off-brand TV's, Visions has 32" starting at $148. Doesn't get much cheaper than that, unless of course you're in the USA where they have actual deals and 50" is $198 .

I need a GoPro. No clue what kind of deals are on. Best Buy has a Hero3+ Silver for $299.99 with a free LCD Backpack (??). Is that worth getting?

Nothing more than the usual $50-$150 off that they have every month.

As long as it's HD, then yes. Non-HD GoPro (Not even sure if they still make them?) have horrible image quality.

anyone see any good deals on PS4? I've only found the GTA5 bundle or the wallmart $50 dollar gift card bundle. Anyone found any offers next to these ones?

Meanwhile, research from Market Track LLC, a price-tracking company, found that the prices of 366 products climbed, on average, about eight per cent leading up to Thanksgiving, only to be dropped on Black Friday.

Lol, I've been saying that for years. However the tv I'm going to buy has definitely not been cheaper in the past 2 months that I've been looking at it.

Walmart also has The Last of Us bundle for $450 with a $75 gift card.

Edit: I just noticed amazon.ca has the exact same deal up for today only.
