Calgary Metropolitan Plan - what the plan is with respect to future growth in and around Calgary. Link (http://www.calgaryregion.ca/dam/Website/reports/General/CRP-current-general-documents/Calgary-Metropolitan-Plan---June-2014/Calgary%20Metropolitan%20Plan%20-%20June%202014.pdf) to PDF document and a specific map from this document detailing future growth areas. I am surprised that there is no more planned growth in the south end of the city outside of what's going on or planned right now - even the NE is capped probably more due to sour gas wells more than anything.

Absorbed as in being surrounded by, maybe but they'll never be annexed as they'll be too large for that - even Chestermere will be moving to a city status quite soon.

Annexation targets near Calgary in the near future will be Delacour, Conrich, Indus, Balzac and possibly De Winton.

Do they just move the city limits further and further out when they create suburbs outside of calgary?

Yeah though Chestermere is moving towards city status they have no services or industry of their own, the city status likely has more to with councillor pay raises then anything else.

Which suburbs would you be referring to?

TL;dr - coordinate and collaborate with nearby municipalities to ensure we are building everything needed to support higher density in urban areas, and pretend to care about the rural areas and the environment.

I can't see Rocky View giving up all that land. Especially around the Balzac mall.

The ones they want to create on the other side of stoney trail up in the nw/ne across from Cross Iron Mills. Its shown to be outside of the city limits if the limits are the dotted border.

All of that growth in the north and southeast... I can only imagine what traffic is going to be like in 5 years time :banghead:

The CoC will annex those lands before they start building suburbs/communities on those lands - highly doubtful that the MD of Foothills or Rockyview County are going to start building suburbs of their own on the outskirts of Calgary. Airdrie will also probably annex lands to the south of them and at some point Calgary and Airdrie's borders will be adjacent to each other.

Some searching has revealed that the city of Airdrie's plans are to annex everywhere but to the south of them - linkl (http://www.airdrie.ca/getDocument.cfm?ID=1743).
