View Full Version : Your #1 CULT movie

Well what's yours? I just found mine last night. 1991 "Stone Cold"

To describe it in one word: gratuitous. I'm actually shocked that this movie got released even with an NC-17 rating. Typically the bad guy doesn't win in movies. And the violence/language/nudity is just absurd.

Runner up movies would be "Tango & Cash" or "Cobra"

While not a box office success, the film has sold well on DVD and VHS, and has become recognized as a cult classic

Whats your definition of cult movie? It wasn't overly successful for years after it came out.

Do you only count movies that nobody but you likes?

That's not cult, that's lack of taste :nut: .

Office Space is definitely a cult classic, the only thing mainstream about it was that it had Jennifer Aniston at the height of her TV career, that's about it.

The Evil Dead trilogy was my favorite for YEARS, but kind of overwatched them

If weirdness is a criteria for a cult classic it doesn't get much weirder than this:

It is chock full of WTF moments.

But in terms of favorites I have to throw a vote out there for this one:

To me a cult film is one of those movies that no matter how bad, b rated, or campy you JUST have to watch regardless.

Its like your sitting there and find out Short Circuit is on tv... You'll watch it.

Tremors and cube

Tremors because it's the only b-style monster movie that takes itself seriously and still has a lot of fun (there is no comparison and we get junk today like sharknado which just doesn't hit the same campy enjoyment tremors delivered )

Cube was amazing because it was somewhat ahead of its time . Yeah the acting was bland and off putting but the cleverness and intricacies of the traps came years before the Saw franchise

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?"
