This time at FSU in Tallahassee.

Honestly, this happens so often it hardly even registers with me anymore.

It's been going on forever in the USA. It hardly ever happens anywhere else. Florida is a CC state. Guns are allowed on campus. Made a big difference tonight... When will USA get it's act together on gun control??

First recorded school shooting was in the late 1800s, Ontario - followed by Altona MB in the early 1900s ...

Your expectations for CC permit holders is not reasonable, you don't even apply this level of expectations to police.
You didn't expect police to happen to be standing right next to the shooter when he took out his gun, you didn't expect police to stop the shooter in his tracks, or even after one person was killed.
The police can only respond when called upon.

CC permit holders are a very small minority on campus and the chance of one of these people being in the wrong place at the wrong time and making the right decision is unrealistic. They carry to protect themselves and others in case they ever DO find themselves in that wrong place at the wrong time situation.
They don't patrol campus 24/7 and go out looking for trouble.

What do you propose for gun control then?

Very few, if any, current gun laws do anything measureable for public safety. And very few actually would.

You are wrong, but when emotion blinds facts, education is impossible.

Limiting magazine size and rate at which a gun could fire would help. Also, never releasing the name of the shooter and asking the media not to publicize it as some of these clowns get off on that.

Beyond that... not much. Even in China where guns are banned, there was a school attack where lots of people were stabbed instead. Shit's gonna happen.

Both those sound like good ideas, but are both flawed.

Semi-automatic firearms already fire at a rate of one round per pull of the trigger. Can't lower a rate of fire much lower than that. Any firearm that can fire in a fully automatic manner is already listed as prohibited in Canada, they can't even be taken to a range to fire. In the US, it is legal for certain individuals to possess a fully automatic firearm. So long as it was manufactured and registered with the government before 1986, the person wishing to possess one passes an FBI background check, submits fingerprints and photos to the BATFE, pays the $200 tax and can afford the tens of thousands of dollars to purchase one.

Assuming that someone wishing to commit a crime with their firearm would even obey a restriction on magazine capacity, the time spent swapping mags isn't enough to do anything to stop a shooter. All that happens is that the people getting shot have a 2 second reprieve before the next magazine is loaded. Banning standard capacity mags in the US is a useless endeavor since there are so many in circulation already. You might have some law abiding owners turn theirs in, but chances are a lot will remain in circulation.

That's brutal. It's sad that someone can get to the point of wanting to take innocent people down with them. RIP innocents.

A handful a year is "so often it hardly even registers with you anymore?"

Anyway, in before the upcoming 5+ page gun control debate.

Ban schools!

Thankfully it sounds like nobody was killed except for the assailant, if I am reading that right.

Lol, the bible is not a history book, it's a fable. It's like claiming rapunzel was the person with the longest recorded hair length.

I quoted both the statement and the rebuttal so you could see how your reaction was somewhat unjustified.

Are you suggesting history books are not;)

Ok Ok, maybe history books aren't total fables, but the bias and propaganda in many history books eventually leads to such.

I suspect Japan's history book version of the events leading up to Pearl Harbor, are very different than American history books.
