when my engine is cold it is hard to keep it going and i was wondering if there was a way to adjust the carburator to help the problem

Do you know what an idle jet set screw is? If you do and you can find it on your carb adjust the screw until it runs smoothly for you.

Does the choke work and is it set properly? You
should be experiencing a high idle when you first
start the engine. Once things are warmed up, you
should be able to kick it down to normal RPM's.

That's exactly how my old 79 5 litre mustang works.... but i had to set the idle a little higher to keep it from stalling in the rain..... :D
