They can't be used to pay bills? Could you sell it for cash?

Sell it for 450$?

I use prepaid cards for my usenet subscription / online purchases at non-major sites (car parts or cheap Chinese electronics crap)

Buy gas with it. Buy groceries with it.

+ Buy gas or go to Superstore and use it to buy other gift cards with self checkout (They let me do it). I hate pre-paid CC because you can't buy things over the CC limit.

I've setup a simple PayPal webpage before and paid myself the balance of the prepaid card. It might reject the first time for whatever reason, but once you sign in online at visa or mastercard or whoever and setup the address, they all seem to go through. I did that for a few years back when work gives them as gifts. Also with them $10 rebate ones as well.

Don't sell it! Like giving away cash :dunno:
Pay off your cable/internet/cell bills for 2-3 months, I'd do like 150-100 towards each. I had a about 700 worth once and paid off my bills for the next 4-5 months.

Also in terms of buying gas, if you select fill, it preauthorizes for 135 or whatever, and then you have to wait for that transaction to get adjusted.

What? of course not, why would a 600$ prepaid CC let you buy something for 1000$?

I'd probably buy 500 dollars worth of merchandise or something along those lines.

The paypal idea is a good way to get most of your value back in cash. If you don't want to go through the hassle of setting up the website, using Sqaure (https://squareup.com/ca ) to self process (they give you a free card reader, or you can borrow mine), to swipe the card and put the funds directly into your bank account. Fees are 2.75%, so for less than $15 bucks you will have the money in your account. Its quick and easy and you aren't being forced to just try to burn it quickly before you lose it etc.

Then transfer to your tangerine account that promo'd 3% this spring and get your 2.75% back :)
